Liam Delap's £50m transfer to Nottingham Forest headlines a busy Chelsea exit strategy as the club opens talks to sell Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa. With the transfer window closing next Tuesday, Chelsea is prioritizing outgoings to streamline their squad and raise funds.
Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal worth £50m to sign Delap, a club record of £45m plus £5m in add-ons. The 23-year-old forward, who joined Chelsea from Ipswich for £30m last summer, struggled with injuries and managed only one league goal. However, Forest's manager Oliver Glasner sees him as a key target to revive his career at the City Ground.

Delap's Move to Forest: A Fresh Start
Delap's time at Chelsea was underwhelming, but his potential remains high. The former Manchester City striker is expected to get more playing time under Glasner, who has been a long-time admirer. This move could be the turning point in Delap's career, offering him the chance to establish himself as a regular starter in the Premier League.
Forest's willingness to pay a club-record fee signals their ambition to strengthen their attacking options. Delap's physicality and pace make him a good fit for the Premier League, and he will be eager to prove his worth after a difficult season.
Jackson's Potential Departure to Aston Villa
Chelsea are also in talks with Aston Villa over the sale of Nicolas Jackson. The Senegal international, valued at £65m, is seen as a potential replacement for Ollie Watkins, who is expected to join Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, but Chelsea are not willing to agree to another loan and want his valuation met.
Aston Villa are likely to push for a favorable payment schedule to make a permanent deal affordable. Atlético Madrid are also interested in the 25-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023. The coming days will be crucial in determining Jackson's future.
