Lewis Hamilton expressed frustration with his Ferrari team after a disastrous pit stop cost him crucial points in the F1 title race at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion finished fifth after a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, leaving him 50 points behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

How the Race Unfolded

Lando Norris claimed his first victory of the season for McLaren, while Max Verstappen took second and Antonelli third. Hamilton had been running in fourth but was called in for a late pit stop under the virtual safety car. The move gave him fresh tires but cost him track position to Verstappen and Antonelli.

“It was pretty bad. Pretty frustrating,” Hamilton said. “I definitely don’t think we should have taken the stop but the call came literally just before the pit-lane entry and I didn’t have time to debate.”

Hamilton’s Growing Penalty Woes

The Briton has been hit with a string of penalties in recent races, including at Silverstone, Spa, and a three-place grid drop in Hungary for impeding in qualifying. The pit-lane speeding penalty added to his frustration.

“I’ll work hard to try and come back, reset,” Hamilton said. “There’s still a lot of places to take. I’m going to try and make sure I don’t give them any reason to give any penalties moving forwards.”
