Poco M8 5G and M8 Pro 5G: Officially announced with Snapdragon chips 2026

The time has finally come for the announcement of Poco's budget phones, the Poco M8 5G series. This includes the Poco M8 5G and Poco M8 Pro 5G. The new phones this year went with chipsets from Qualcomm in the middle category, which is where the devices belong.

Poco M8 5G

The Poco M8 5G comes with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, along with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of storage, which is UFS 2.2. The device for some reason still seems to be running HyperOS 2, which is based on Android 15, and has all of Google's AI features. We'll probably see it upgraded to HyperOS 3 with Android 16 soon.

The device has a 6.77-inch screen, AMOLED technology, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The screen resolution is FHD+ with a maximum brightness of 3,200nits. But the impressive thing is that the screen is 12-bit in such a cheap device.

In terms of photography, the device comes with 50MP, with Light Fusion 400, while next to it, it only has a 2MP camera for calculating the depth of field. On the front we have a 20MP camera.

The battery of the device is 5,520mAh, while it supports charging at 45W. The fingerprint scanner is located on the screen, while the device is IP66 certified.

Other features include stereo sound and Dolby Atmos, an infrared port, Wi-Fi 6 and microSD storage expansion.

Poco M8 Pro 5G

The more powerful Poco M8 Pro comes with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a fairly powerful mid-range chip. It comes with the new Poco IceLoop cooling system and like its smaller sibling runs HyperOS 2 with Android 15.

Its screen is 6.83 inches, with a resolution of 1.5K and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has a brightness that reaches 3,200nits and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, while the glass in front of it is Gorilla Glass Victus 2!

Photographically, we will find the Light Fusion 800 in the main camera, with a resolution of 50MP, while it also has OIS. Next to it we have an ultra-wide-angle 8MP camera. On the front, the camera is at 32MP.

The battery of the device is carbon-silicon, at 6,500mAh. It supports charging at 100W and reverse wired charging at 22.5W. Poco M8 Pro comes with IP68 certification and Dolby Atmos.

Poco M8 5G is available in black, green and silver. It is priced at $229 for the 8GB/256GB version, while the 8GB/512GB version costs $279.

On the other hand, the Poco M8 Pro 5G costs $299 for the 8GB/256GB version, while the 12GB/512GB version costs $359.
