Cardboard Castle 2026

Cardboard Castle for all the little ones at home, where they can have healthy fun. You can build it in any room of the house that has enough space to fit all these empty cardboard boxes.

Supplies

Many boxes! And an industrial tape dispenser.

Step 1: Assemble boxes

The boxes were stored flat packed, so the night before the project started all the boxes were assembled and stored under the patio.

Step 2: Begin construction of the exterior walls

Decide how big you want to go with the estimated number of boxes you have. Then start with the exterior walls. I have allowed a gate where I will build a drawbridge a little later in the project.

Step 3: Continue building

Continue building the exterior walls until you reach the desired height.

Step 4: Secure While Building

I am using an industrial tape dispenser with over a dozen rolls of tape in supply. And I also used some stakes to secure the bottom layer to the grass.

Step 5: Internal rooms

With all the external walls complete, it's time to use the remaining boxes and build internal rooms to your liking.

Step 6: Slide through the tunnel

I glued two refrigerator boxes on top of each other, to make a tower, and then cut a door on each side of the bottom so that as you go down the slide you slide through a "tunnel." I also added another smaller box at the end to make the tunnel a little longer.

Step 7: Drawbridge in operation

Almost finished the project, with the final step of building a working drawbridge. I glued several pieces of cardboard together to make them thicker and more structurally sound. And also put some reinforcement on the edges. He then used stakes to secure the bottom and create a hinge.

Step 8: Add rope

Tape some rolls of cardboard to the bottom of the doorway to allow the rope to slide and then secure it to the end of the drawbridge.

Step 9: Time to play!

Now that the girls have it and enjoy it.
