Chelsea Transfer News: Chalobah Sold, Henderson Signs 2026

Chelsea transfer news is dominated by the departure of Trevoh Chalobah and the arrival of Jordan Henderson in a busy day at Stamford Bridge. The club has agreed a deal worth an initial £25.7m with Como for the England defender, while Henderson joins on a free transfer from Brentford. These moves highlight Chelsea's strategy of balancing the books while adding experience to the squad.

Chelsea Sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como

Trevoh Chalobah, who has been at Chelsea since the age of eight, is set to end his long association with the club. The 27-year-old made 105 Premier League appearances and became a reliable first-team option during turbulent periods. The deal includes £5.1m in performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause, which will generate pure profit for Chelsea as they continue to comply with financial regulations.

Como's head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, played a key role in pushing for the transfer, and the move is seen as a coup for the Italian club. Chalobah's departure is a significant moment for Chelsea's academy, as they lose another homegrown talent, but it provides much-needed financial flexibility.

Jordan Henderson Signs for Chelsea

On the same day, new manager Xabi Alonso welcomed Jordan Henderson to Chelsea. The 36-year-old midfielder joined on a free transfer after playing 34 times for Brentford last season, earning a place in England's World Cup squad. Henderson expressed his excitement: "Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down."

Henderson's career includes a 12-year spell at Liverpool, where he captained the team to Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020. He also had stints at Al-Ettifaq and Ajax before joining Brentford. His experience and leadership are expected to be valuable for Chelsea's young squad.
