Iran Strikes Near Qeshm Island: US Accused of Hospital Attack 2026

The United States has launched strikes near Iran's Gulf island of Qeshm, escalating tensions in the Middle East and drawing accusations of a barbaric attack on a children's cancer hospital. This latest development marks a significant uptick in hostilities between Washington and Tehran, with regional implications spreading across the Gulf.

Details of the Strikes Near Qeshm Island

Iranian news agencies, including Fars and Tasnim, reported that American missiles struck locations around Qeshm Island, a strategic area near the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes come amid renewed hostilities that have seen both sides exchange fire, with Iran accusing the US of targeting civilian infrastructure.

Qeshm Island is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, and any military action there raises concerns about energy supply disruptions. The Iranian foreign ministry condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of international law.

US Accused of Hospital Attack in Ahvaz

Iran has specifically accused the United States of launching a barbaric attack near a children's cancer hospital in Ahvaz, southwest of the country. Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that the hospital was forced to evacuate, causing severe suffering and anxiety for young patients.

This accusation has drawn widespread condemnation, though the US has not yet commented on the specific incident. The hospital attack underscores the humanitarian toll of the escalating conflict.

Regional Fallout and Houthi Threats

The conflict is not limited to US-Iran exchanges. Yemen's Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi has threatened to target all Saudi oil facilities if Riyadh involves itself in what he calls comprehensive aggression against Yemen. This follows a drone strike on a ship carrying American-branded cars off the port of Basra, Iraq, which has suspended crude oil loading at Iraqi terminals.

Kuwaiti air defenses are also engaging drone attacks from Iran, highlighting the widening scope of the crisis. The table below compares key incidents:
