Build your own nightstand with wireless charging for cell phones easily with the following steps. This is a simple project that anyone with basic carpentry skills can do. Most of the wood is plywood, so it's pretty cheap, and the electronic components are really cheap these days, small and very functional.
Build your own nightstand with wireless cell phone charging:
Step 1: Build the Frame

The first step is to build the main body of the table, the frame. Plywood was used but MDF can be used. A single sheet of plywood, 1200mm x 600mm, will also be used. It was cut into 2 side panels and 3 shelves. Using a circular saw and a straight edge I was able to lift the blade. All shelves were cut to one size at the same time to ensure they were the same size.
For the legs I used a wood router to create 3 slots the same width as the plywood. This was for visual effect, but also adds strength to the joint.
Before gluing the piece, be sure to sand all the internal faces. It's much easier to do it now when the faces are easily accessible. Then glue all the boards together and nail the shelves with some dowels, through the legs for greater strength.
Step 2: Make the top

We use hardwood for the top surface. Once you have cut the top of your table, in this next job we prepare the wood for the loader. You are using a cheap charger and a male to female micro USB cable. The female end of the cable has mounting screws.
The most important thing with the charger, and this will require some testing, is to find out how much distance between the charger and the phone may be necessary. In this case, it was done at a distance of about 5 mm.
Once you have the depth, tape the charger and cable to the top of the table and draw the lines you will need to cut. And start eliminating the depth required for the device to fit there. Sand the table surface on both sides.
Step 3: Attach the frame to the table

After the table top has dried, turn it upside down and align the frame (also upside down) where you want the top. Hold it in place and use a drill to drill holes, making sure not to go over the top of the table.
After that, countersink the holes and then screw the 2 together. With delicate and thin material, use a manual screwdriver to get a light touch.
Finally screw the female USB connector onto the table top.
Step 4: Plug it in

The last step is to plug it in and find where you need to place the phone for it to charge wirelessly. .
