Great Tutorial to Carve a Flower in Wood, there are different techniques and methods. And let's be realistic in art. If something works, do it.
I don't see many people trying to learn how to carve or trying to do something without the help of a machine!
The first lessons you take in wood carving are usually geometrically carved, but we're great and we're going to move on to the next one. And sorry for the bad writing or if you see something strange. Please, if you want to help me improve or give me advice, don't be afraid to tell me in the comments.
Step 1: Tools

- Paper for drawing
- Tracing paper
- Pencil
- Compass
- Rule
- Draft
- Wooden hammer
- Some chisels (Why don't I give precise chisels? Your flower will have different curves)
- Recycled wood.
Step 2: Drawing

Take a piece of paper and draw a small circle for the center of the flower and a large circle just to reference the final edges of the flower petals. Divide the circle however you want (in this case into 10 equal parts). After that, find a coin with that radius and draw the end of the flower with it (petal). And that's how you get a basic shape for the flower. If you have a different method and it works for you, JUST DO IT and forget my advice.
Step 3: Transferring the drawing to the wood

Take the tracing paper and put it on the drawing. Follow the lines with the pencil. After that, turn the paper with the pencil mark towards the workpiece. And following the lines again, transfer your flower to the piece of wood.
Step 4: Carving

The best part of the project for me!
Prepare your chisels and start by finding the right groove for the job and make the curve with one or two light blows with the wooden hammer just to get it started. Continue with light strokes until you establish the lines. Work slowly and don't try to do it with a hard blow. We don't want to split the wood or break a piece. PATIENCE!
TIPS: Always make your relief cut something like 85 (or something like that) not 90 degrees. The reason is that when you go down and make a mistake it will be more difficult to fix it. Thanks to the small angle we give. By doing so, you can easily fix it and delete it when you are done with it. Then make the final 90 degree cut.
When you set the lines ready, start getting the desired depth after that start removing the material and try to make it look like a flower.
When you go for straight lines, start with stronger strokes at the top and work your way up so you can get a more realistic flower.
When you are done with removing most of the materials and straight lines. Take a slit that will form the inside of the petal (it's your choice).tion the curve you want it to be). And slowly begin to finish the petal. FIND a way to the heart of the flower.
Step 5: Finishing

Now we have a simple flower to finish. The other flowers you see have more details and finishes with the boiled linseed oil. Just experiment with your work on a future project. See you later!
