How to Make a Small Folding Table, although this is not an original project, I suppose there is a reader who does not know this great table design.

I made a small large table/stool, but of course you can modify the project to get a real table.

Step 1: Design and material

I drew the side views of the table on a small scale to determine proportions and size.

In the image I 3D modeled for this project, you can see proportions and some dimensions, although they are not exactly what I used, but you can keep the same proportions and change the size.

Measure the boards, cut them and drill the holes at the correct height.

Step 2: Position of the boards

To choose the correct position for the platform boards, the best way is to place everything on a flat table, center each piece, and glue all the pieces with the correct mating.

Use some spacers where you will place some washers between rods.

Step 3: Pegs

To reinforce the board, we will insert wooden dowels into each connection that we have already glued.

In my other projects, I tried to hide dowels inside the boards and rods, but in this case, I guess they will be pretty, and it's definitely much quicker and easier this way.

Simply drill holes of the correct size (8mm diameter and 3-4cm length in my case) in the shaft of the rods from above the boards.

You can wait to insert dowels and glue until each board is in place.

Step 4: Cut the legs and insert the screws

Now you must continue with some details.

Drill holes not too deep to insert nuts.

Then cut the legs diagonally with the right angle.

The best way to determine the angle is to place the assembled table on a surface and use a goniometer.

Step 5: Last boards

I decided to place the bottom boards directly against the floor.

This way it makes the table much more stable.

Therefore, you should pay attention that the bottom edge of the boards contacts the floor surface before gluing them.

Use clamps to keep everything compressed until the glue dries.

Step 6: Glue Pins

It's time to drip glue into the holes, insert the dowels and cut off the protruding pieces with a Japanese saw.

Step 7: Assembly

Assembling the pieces is very simple.

I used a pair of long nuts for the internal connections, so to insert a bamboo cylinder to act as a handle to carry the furniture.

To prevent the bolts from unscrewing, you can add Cyano acrylic glue or some special product.

Step 8: Finishing

Complete your work with a finishing paint. I added shellac and wax, evento obtain a pleasant appearance.

Step 9: Try and enjoy

The table is ready! You can try it or ask your friends to do it.

Step 10: Improved Handle

I added rope around the handle to improve grip and appearance. Simply put a layer of glue on the surface of the cylinder and wrap it with the rope.
