On this occasion, we are going to teach you how to build an organic and functional coat rack, using some pruning branches as bars.
Likewise, we will show you a very original way to create hangers. An easy and economical carpentry job, within the reach of any DIY enthusiast.
To make the structure we will simply need a pine board, a block of the same material and pruning branches.
And, for the hangers we will also use some smaller pruning branches and some threaded rods, which we will shape into a hook.

Steps on how to make an organic coat rack
Step #1
First, we mark the cutting lines on the pine pieces and tie them to the table with clamps.
Next, we cut both the side pieces of the coat rack and the bases, using the jigsaw and a wood blade.

Step #2
The next thing we will do is mark the cutting lines on the branches that will make the bars, taking into account the margin that we must leave at both ends, so that the structure is stable.
With the same tool, we cut the pieces.

Step #3
At the ends of the crossbars we are going to put some wedges as stops, so first we will make the slots to be able to insert them.

Step #4
We also cut the branches that we will use to make the hangers.
If necessary, we gently sand the surface, to prevent the edges from damaging the clothes we are going to hang.
We will prepare as many pieces as hangers we want.

Step #5
Now let's move on to the side pieces.
We will have to drill some holes to be able to insert the branches: one, at the top of the structure as a bar for the hangers and two, at the bottom of the structure, forming a shoe rack.
To make the holes we will use hole saws of the same diameter as the branches we have obtained.

Step #6
At the bases, we will make some boxes to house the side pieces.
To do this, we first make some holes with the drill fitted with a spade drill bit...

Step #7
And then, we finish the job by emptying the areas with the help of a chisel and a wooden mallet.

Step #8
We go over the entire pine surface with the sander provided with a sheet of medium-grain sandpaper, until it is completely smooth and without edges.
Next, we remove the dust produced.

Step #9
After covering the work table with cardboard to avoid staining it, we applied a colorless varnish to the pine surface using a trowel.
With this product, in addition to protecting the wood, we will enhance the grain.

Step #10
When the varnish has dried, we make the fixing holes to join the side pieces to the base.
To carry out this task, we will use the drill and a wood drill bit of the same diameter asthe screws that we are going to use.

Step #11
The next step is to fill the base boxes with carpenter's glue and insert the sides.
Using a martyr, we hit it a few times with the wooden mallet, until the pieces fit perfectly.

Step #12
Then, we reinforce the fastening with some screws.
To insert them, we must use a screwdriver bit suitable for the shape and size of the head of the lag screws.

Step #13
We can now introduce the bars into their corresponding holes and insert the wedges.
Next, we remove the excess of the latter.

Step #14
It's the hangers' turn.
The first thing we will do is prepare a template to bend the threaded rod.
For that we will need a piece of wood and two fairly thick tubillons that rotate.
We hold the template to the table with a vice and begin to shape the rods.

Step #15
Finally, we make holes in the branches, insert the hangers and secure them with some nuts.
Now we just have to hang the hangers on the bar of our new coat rack.

Step #16
With elements of Nature and creativity we can do really attractive things; like this practical and decorative coat rack, which will look perfect in both rustic and modern decoration.
A piece of furniture that always comes in handy for hanging coats and other accessories; especially when we receive visitors.
