See how to make pallet loungers for the Garden easily by applying the following steps that we leave you below. Simple design, functional and recycling all in one!
Steps to make pallet loungers for the garden

Step 1:
These are the materials you will need:
(If you are making one chair, you will only need 3 pallets, but this tutorial is for two chairs)
- Four pallets of the same size, preferably rectangular.
- A pallet slightly wider than your other pallets, more square than rectangular
- 2X4 type pallet waste
Step 2:

- Take your four pallets of the same size and stack them on top of each other two by two. There is no need to secure them, the weight of the wood keeps them in place.
- Make sure your only remaining pallet is wide enough to fit as a backup. A pallet generally consists of three layers of wood: the top boards, the middle boards (often 2X4s), and the bottom boards. In this case, the top boards must be long enough to fit as a backrest while accommodating the 2X4s on each side of the seat. So they should be the width of the seat plus at least 4 inches more, if they are one or two inches more than that, you don't have to be as precise and that will make your life easier.
- Now it's time to disassemble the backrest deck and this is where the hard physical work comes in... Remove all of the bottom deck boards and the two outside center (edge) boards. Leave one or two (depending on how your deck is built) 2 boards in the middle where they are to help keep the top boards in place. Save all clippings, some will be used later in this project.
- The arrow in the image shows the nails holding the original center board to the top boards, everything else was deconstructed.
- Cut the remains into two halves. Be sure to cut so that the slats face the same direction as your seat (i.e. only cut the middle board, not all the top boards).
- Take your 2x4s, either from another pallet like I did or use a new one from the lumber yard, and attach them to the top boards on each side. These should be longer than the backrest (top boards) so that they can reach and fit next to the seat platforms, as you can see in the picture.
Step 3:

- Lean the back of your seat where you want to go to determine how inclined you want the backrest to be. I marked the inclination of the support legs on the side, so I knew what angle to place the legs at later (see image below with arrow). I just reused the original center boards (2x4) from my backup pallet for this and at this point I was so tired and hot that I didn't even bother to clean them 🙂 Anyway, in the end, they will barely be visible. Oh, and I attached the support legs to the backrest at this point too 🙂
Step 4:

- The last step is to place the backrest platform on the seat platforms. I was originally going to leave the backrest attached, but it was a little wobbly, so I put a screw in where the arrow is in the picture below, one on each side of the lounger. It only attaches to the lower seat paddle, the upper one is still loose and removable.
- The last image is the view from the back to clarify the construction.
Step 5:

The construction is done! Homemade cushions make them ready for lounging!
At this point I went ahead and prepped mine and finally painted it red, but it's completely optional.
