Make a shower for the patio, a shower can be very useful in the patio or garden of a house, not only to remove the chlorine after leaving the pool, also, if you have a pool, it can be used to get wet and cool off in summer. That is why in this project we will teach not only how to install a shower, but also make a wooden framework that supports it and helps the aesthetics of the place.
Materials to use:
- Bag of gravel, 3
- 1 1/4″ wood screws (250 units)

- Transparent anti-slip tape 24mmx4.5m
- Nail plugs 8 x 100, 4
- Hose connection
1 cuts the wood
- Using the circular saw, cut 72 pieces of 1x2" planed pine. There are 2 of 210 cm for the verticals of the wall framework, 2 of 1 m for the verticals of the floor framework, 66 of 96 cm for the framework, and 2 more pieces of 170 cm to fix the framework to the wall.
- Also cut 2 pieces of 210 cm and 6 of 1 m with their ends at 45º to make a frame for each framework or treillage.
- The 2×6” beams must be cut into 5 pieces: 3 of 92 cm and 2 of 1 m.
- Make 3 openings facing each other in the 2 1 m beams, these openings must be the size of the 2x1″ pine, that is, approximately 4 cm long.
2 protect the wood
- All 1×2" pine boards must be protected with a primer, since it will not only be on the outside, but also in direct contact with humidity. It is applied with a brush and the excess is removed with a cloth.
- The 2×6” beams must be protected with a layer of asphalt primer that is applied with a brush, and once dry, the asphalt paint is added. These are two products that are used in addition and that provide protection so that the beams can withstand direct contact with the earth and humidity.
3 make the frameworks
- Attach the horizontal pieces to the vertical ones, leaving a 10 cm edge. It is fixed with a 1 ¼" screw per joint, and 1 cm is left between each stick. In the floor framework, the verticals must be left not very centered, since they could coincide with the beams that will go on the floor.
- When all the frame sticks are fixed, the frame must be placed with the pieces cut at 45º, this helps to hide the end of the frame.
4 assemble the faucet
- In the wall framework you have to make some holes to mount the taps and flexibles. The holes are made with a 22 mm paddle drill bit to pass the flexible pipe that will carry the water to the shower tray, and with a socket drill bit for the taps.
- Put a hose terminal on the hose, since the water will be drawn from it, and connect the hose to the cold water inlet, the hot water inlet must be closed with a cap or lid.
5 make the floor
- Present the framework on the floor, mark the corners, remove the framework and make an excavation of about 20 cm.
- Place a bed of gravel in the excavation, and on top of it the square of 2×6” beams.
- Fill with a little more gravel between the beams.
6 fix the wall framework
- Fix 2 1x2” brushed pine nails with a nail dowel, approximately 1.70 long, and 50 cm apart.
- Screw the wall framing to those battens with 1 ¼” screws.
7 Turn on the shower
- Fix the shower column supports to the wall framework, there are 2 of them and they must be fixed following the distance indications indicated in the installation manual.
- Make the connection of the flexible to the shower.
- Connect the hose to the water inlet hose that was left behind dthe framework.
