Unusual Uses for Vaseline, this over-the-counter topical treatment has been around for years and there is no end to its usefulness. By having such a bathtub in your home, it has the characteristics of a medicinal cure, all mixed with a manual repairer.
Follow along and we will explore some of the more unusual ones used for Vaseline, some are strange but all are practical.
Ready to get some lubrication? Let's go!

Step 1: Lipstick on teeth

Put a little Vaseline on your teeth before applying lipstick.
This is a technique used by beauty contestants, or those who are first learning how to apply lipstick.
Step 2: Hair Dye Barrier

To protect your skin from being dyed along with your hair, try creating a barrier on your forehead and around your ears with a thin layer of Vaseline.
The Vaseline will protect your skin from absorbing the hair dye, allowing you to be a little messy when applying liberal amounts of dye to your hair.
After applying the dye, simply wipe the Vaseline off with a cloth.
Step 3: Make your boots shine

Use a little Vaseline to touch up your worn boots or heels to make them look like new!
Wipe a soft, clean cloth with a little Vaseline and gently rub it on leather shoes or boots.
Petroleum gelatin is ideal for hydrating skin, making it shine and giving it a little water resistance.
Step 4: Prevent battery corrosion

Vaseline can also help you outside the home, like in your car. By adding Vaseline to the car battery terminals, you can help prevent corrosion.
Vaseline forms a water-resistant barrier around the metal tops of the battery terminals, a place where acid corrosion is likely to occur.
Turn off your car's engine and carefully rub a generous amount of Vaseline on each battery terminal, being careful not to touch both terminals along with anything conductive.
Step 5: Revive dry leather

Vaseline is a great skin rejuvenator, why not on leather goods?
This old baseball glove was brought back to life by rubbing it with Vaseline on every stitch and seam and letting it sit for a while to absorb, the excess Vaseline was removed.
If necessary, apply another session of Vaseline to any stubborn areas after letting the glove rest for a day between applications.
Step 6: Remove a stuck ring

Vaseline is very slippery and can be used to loosen any stuck jewelry from your chubby fingers.
Spread a generous amount on both sides of your stuck ring, then turn and work the ring back and forth on your finger to spread the Vaseline under the ring and between the metal and your skin.
Then, gently pull the ring off your finger.
Step 7: Remove the gum from the hair

Getting gum in your hair is the worst.
Fortunately, Vaseline can help remove even the stickiest of gum.
Isolate the section of hair that has the gum behindapada on it, then work a large amount of Vaseline on the gum to break down the elasticity of the gum.
Take breaks by rubbing the gum and Vaseline mixture from your hair with a paper towel, then reapply Vaseline to the gum in your hair again and continue working until all of the gum has been broken down and removed.
To remove the amount of gum shown in the image, it took approximately 7 minutes.
Step 8: Put it in small cuts

There's a reason trainers apply Vaseline to cuts on wrestlers' faces. In addition to being all slippery, Vaseline also forms a barrier that can stop small cuts.
After cleaning the cut you can apply a drop of Vaseline to the area directly over the cut, this will seal the wound which will prevent further bleeding and also provide a barrier to prevent infection.
Step 9: Hairball Remedy

As Vaseline is a lubricant, it can be used to help pets with hairballs.
Some animals don't mind eating Vaseline directly, but for pickier pets you can apply the Vaseline directly to their paws and they will lick it off.
It is non-toxic, and in small amounts should be fine for pets.
Please note that although a moderate amount of gelatin is fine, too much can prevent the intestines from absorbing vitamins and may cause diarrhea in your pet.
Step 10: Easy Lids on Open Jars

Keeping jar lids easy to open is simple with a little Vaseline.
A thin layer of Vaseline around the threaded side of a jar lid before screwing on the lid, the slippery jelly will prevent any stuck food from gripping the jar lid and should allow you to easily open rope jars.
This works great for sticky foods with high sugar content, like honey, jam, or barbecue sauce.
Step 11: Soft focus on the camera lens

Take vintage photographs using the classic technique of oiling your camera lens. Apply a small dab directly to the camera lens with your fingertip and rub gently to cover the entire lens.
Check through the viewfinder to see if your image looks nice and dreamy, you may need to remove or add more to achieve your effect.
In my experience, a little goes a long way.
To remove it, find a lint-free cloth and gently rub the lens to clean it.
Step 12: Moisten the dog's paws

It's always good to be pampered, and your puppy is no exception. When relaxing with your best friend and giving him belly massages try massaging a little Vaseline on your dogs dry paws.
Use a little at first, as some dogs are averse to the sensation of their paws being rubbed, and the added texture of Vaseline can make them squeamish; However, if you have a good relationship with your dog, this really shouldn't be a problem.
