Samsung Galaxy S26 Review: Best Compact Android Phone of 2026 2026

The Samsung Galaxy S26 is one of the best compact Android phones you can buy in 2026, especially at its current price of €739. With seven years of software updates, a 6.3-inch 120Hz display, and a 50MP camera, it offers a premium experience in a small package.

Why the Galaxy S26 Stands Out in the Compact Market

Not everyone wants a massive phone. Many users prefer a device that fits comfortably in one hand and slips easily into a pocket. The Galaxy S26 delivers exactly that, measuring just 7.2mm thick and weighing 167 grams. Despite its small size, it doesn't skimp on features.

The 6.3-inch Full HD+ display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, making it vibrant and readable even outdoors. Powering the phone is Samsung's Exynos 2600 chipset, the first built on a 2nm process. While it may not match the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the S26 Ultra, it handles everyday tasks and gaming with ease.

Key Features of the Galaxy S26

• Compact design: 7.2mm thin and 167g, easy to use with one hand.
• Vibrant display: 6.3-inch Full HD+ with 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness.
• Powerful performance: Exynos 2600 (2nm) with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
• Long software support: Seven years of updates, ensuring longevity.
• Great value: Priced at €739 on Powerplanet with free 24-hour shipping.

Performance and Battery Life

The Exynos 2600 may not be the absolute fastest chip on the market, but it's more than capable for most users. With 12GB of RAM, multitasking is smooth, and the 4,300mAh battery should easily last a full day of moderate use. The phone also supports fast charging, though the exact wattage isn't specified in the source.

In terms of storage, the 256GB variant offers ample space for apps, photos, and videos. The device runs Android with Samsung's One UI on top, and with seven years of updates, it's a future-proof investment.

Camera and Software

The Galaxy S26 features a 50MP main camera, which should capture detailed photos in good lighting. Samsung's Galaxy AI enhancements are also on board, likely improving scene detection and image processing. The phone comes with a manufacturer's warranty of three years plus an extra year, adding peace of mind.

Software is a strong point: Samsung promises seven years of OS and security updates, matching the longevity of its flagship siblings. This means the S26 will receive new Android versions and security patches well into the 2030s.

Comparison with Other Compact Phones

Compared to other compact Android phones, the Galaxy S26 stands out for its long update policy and high-end display. While some competitors may be cheaper, they often compromise on build quality or software support.
