Background of the Arday Review
The review, announced by Cambridge's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Prentice, comes after a period of profound sadness and reflection. The review is designed to answer critical questions about whether the institution could have done more to protect and support him.
The scope of the review includes an examination of the university's internal processes, the handling of plagiarism allegations, and the overall support system for faculty members under public scrutiny. By appointing Nazir Afzal, known for his expertise in complex legal matters and his role as a former chief crown prosecutor for north-west England, Cambridge aims to ensure the review is both independent and rigorous.
