The US military has launched its 10th consecutive round of strikes on Iran, escalating tensions as Iran declares a full-scale war and global oil supplies face disruption through the Strait of Hormuz. This latest development marks a significant escalation in the conflict, with both sides intensifying military operations across the region.
US Strikes Target Iranian Military Infrastructure
The US military confirmed it struck military command centers, air defense systems, coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch facilities, and communications networks in Iran. Iranian media reported strikes near Tabriz, believed to house underground missile bases, and Bushehr, home to Iran's only operational civilian nuclear power plant.

Iran's Response: Full-Scale War Declaration
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated, "The reality is that today the Islamic Republic of Iran is engaged in a full-scale war," warning that the country may have to endure more strikes. Iran retaliated by launching attacks against Bahrain, which hosts the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, and Kuwait, in addition to striking oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
Global Oil Supply Under Threat
The Strait of Hormuz carries approximately one-fifth of the world's oil and gas supplies. With Iran targeting tankers and the Houthis in Yemen announcing a blockade of Saudi ports, energy markets face severe disruption. The table below compares key impacts before and after the conflict escalation:
| Impact Area | Before Conflict | After Escalation |
|---|---|---|
| Oil Flow Through Hormuz | ~20% of global supply | Severely disrupted |
| US Military Strikes | 9 rounds | 10th round launched |
| US Service Member Deaths | 14 | 17 |
| Iranian Nuclear Sites Targeted | None | Bushehr area struck |
Key Takeaways from the Escalation
- US military has conducted 10 consecutive strike rounds on Iranian military targets.
- Iran declares a full-scale war and threatens further retaliation.
- The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil, is under attack.
- US service member deaths have risen to 17 since the conflict began.
- Diplomatic talks continue but show no signs of de-escalation.
Regional Allies and Coalition Impact
Bahrain reported damage to its air traffic systems from Iranian strikes, though operations continued. Kuwait also faced attacks. The Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen announced a blockade of Saudi ports, further threatening regional stability and energy shipments.
US President Trump's Warning
President Donald Trump signaled an escalation in tactics, stating Iran would "pay" for killing US soldiers "many times over" after multiple service members were killed in action over the weekend. The US military identified two soldiers killed in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
