Natalie Tran Interview: Rice Cookers, Bake Off, and Bird Feuds 2026

Natalie Tran, beloved internet personality and comedian, opens up about her role on The Great Australian Bake Off, her strong stance on rice cookers, and an unexpected run-in with a neighborhood bird. In this celebrity interview, Tran shares candid insights and humorous anecdotes that reveal her unique perspective on food, life, and wildlife.

Behind the Scenes of The Great Australian Bake Off

When asked about the amount of cake consumed during filming, Tran laughs, "We are told to leave the cakes alone until after the judging has happened. It doesn’t always happen that way, but they don’t cap how much cake we eat after that." She describes the bakers as generous, often leaving "cut-offs on the side of the bench," which the hosts eagerly swipe like "trash birds."

This behind-the-scenes glimpse highlights the playful atmosphere on set, where the hosts and bakers share a mutual love for baked goods. Tran’s enthusiasm for the show is palpable, and her stories give fans a taste of the fun that goes into each episode.

The Rice Cooker Debate: A Serious Matter

In a previous Guardian interview, Tran famously suggested that it should be illegal not to own a rice cooker. She stands by that statement, saying, "Yes, 100%. Jail time. No questions asked." When confronted with the interviewer's confession of not owning one, Tran is visibly horrified, asking, "But don’t you have to clean it afterwards?"

Tran believes that a rice cooker simplifies life immensely, and she cannot understand why anyone would choose to cook rice in a pan. Her passionate advocacy has sparked a lively debate among fans, many of whom have taken her words to heart.

Bird Encounters and Neighborhood Feuds

Tran also shared a peculiar story about a bird that seems to hold a grudge. "There’s this bird in my neighbourhood. I walked around the corner and I saw it standing on top of a magpie and it was screaming at the magpie," she recounts. After intervening, she realized the bird might remember her, so she pretended to be doing something else, hoping to avoid a lasting feud.

This humorous anecdote showcases Tran’s quirky and relatable personality, endearing her to fans who appreciate her candid storytelling.
