The structure is made from pieces of iron wire joined by soldering to form a nearly invisible frame, thus adaptable to any type of decor. Taking inspiration from this project, you can modify the dimensions; the same lamp can be placed on the floor or on top of a piece of furniture—it's simply a matter of maintaining the proportions between the stem and the shade.

Being completely uncovered, the light spreads vertically while laterally generating a subtle chromatic effect depending on the color of the covering; a darker color accentuates the vertical diffusion of light and vice versa. To achieve barely visible welds, besides some practice, a continuous wire welder is certainly more helpful than an electrode one.

The stem is connected to the shade via four pieces of iron wire inclined inward and joined to the lamp holder support, so that the connections to the light source remain hidden and the diffused light is uniform.

The Template for the Shade

To bend the iron wire continuously and evenly to obtain the circumference of the shade, you need to prepare a template using a wooden support to which you fix a Ø 400 mm plywood disc, divided into equal parts with a compass to mark the position of the vertical slats. Wrap the wire around the template. While bending, hold it in place with small nails; the two ends, which must match perfectly, are joined with a solder point.

A template with Ø 250 mm is used to make the base; at the center, place a 500 mm high strip, at the top of which you fix the Ø 130 mm disc, after having grooved it to hold the oblique slats in place during soldering. A Ø 400 mm template serves for the shade.
