The shelves, made from welded square tubing, match the shape of the space in both dimensions and the slanted top profile. When measuring, be sure to account for the height of the rubber wheels on which the frame rests.

The shelves and any side panels are made from particle board or reclaimed plywood, cut to size. The two shelf units have three and four shelves respectively. If space allows, you can add a two-shelf unit and a single-shelf unit. For the best results, consider using quality sheds or greenhouses for outdoor storage alternatives.

Construction

The frame is a standard welded square tube structure.

• The best method is to work on a good flat surface where you mark the positions of the pieces, so you can replicate the uprights (two identical ones for each shelf) and fix them perfectly square.
• The distances between the shelves depend on the books or magazines to be stored.
• After welding the side pieces together, join them with crossbars to form the structure. At strategic points, for a robust assembly, the crossbars are square tubing; at other points, they are made from solid round bar of smaller section.
• To facilitate precise positioning of the shelves, a guide rail was placed at the base of the first one, in which the wheels run on one side, ensuring easy alignment of adjacent structures as well.
• The wheels, rubber type, should not be swiveling since the movement is sliding. Reclaimed wheels from skates or rollerblades work very well, usually equipped with excellent bearings; the weight collected on the shelves, especially when storing magazines and books, can be very high.
