Learn to Build an Amazing Painting Easel for Kids, features a double-sided design with trays and surfaces of your choice on each side. The center has a roll of paper that can feed both sides with ease.

It is an easy-to-build design that should be economical and fast but robust and high quality. Below are the instructions!

Materials:

• Roll paper storage
• Paper
• 2 Storage Trays for Supplies
• 6 Boards – 1x3 @ 8 feet long
• 1 Board – 1x6 @ 6 feet long
• 2 1/4″ panels of plywood, whiteboard, blackboard, wood board, etc.
• 1 3/4″ Wood Dowel @ 25-1/2″ long (See Step 5)

• 4 Boards – 1x3 @ 54-3/4″ Both ends cut at 10 degrees, long point to short point, ends are parallel
• 6 Boards – 1×3 @ 24″
• 2 1/4″ Panels (chalkboard, whiteboard) @ 24″ x 32″
• 1 Board – 1x6 @ 25-1/2″
• 4 Boards – 1×3 @ 22-1/2″
• 2 Boards – 1×6 @ 22-1/2″
• 1 Wooden Dowel @ 25-1/2″

Step 1:

Build two of the angled frames. I recommend pocket holes for strength here. Use a 3/4″ setup and 1-1/4″ pocket screws.

NOTE: Also drill two pocket holes in the top of each leg facing up on the inside to attach the top in later steps. See step 3 for placement.

Step 2:

Secure the panels from the back with glue and nails, staples or short screws.

Step 3:

Attach the top of the legs with glue and screws.

Step 4:

Attach the sides to the bottoms of the tray.

Step 5:

Place the long side on both trays. Drill for the plug.

Step 6:

Attach the tray with 1-1/4″ screws to the legs.

Step 7:

Once the frame has been built, consider painting the storage tray before attaching it.

By painting the bottom of the legs, you create a visual image for children. Additionally, the storage tray is painted in white porcelain, it is a super durable hard finish that is resistant to cleaning chemicals, perfect for all the messy kids.

I also suggest not painting the paper roll pin, which will make it much easier to insert and remove to change the paper roll. You could even make this easel with 2 paper roll holders, one for each side is convenient.
