Make an autumn garden in 1m, if we want to plant vegetables and herbs at home we do not need a large space, the key is in the organization, distribution and diversification of crops. In this project we propose a simultaneous and varied production of vegetables and aromatic herbs only in 1 square meter.

Materials

Step 1 define the place

To achieve good plant development and keep pests away, we must choose a place that has a high amount of light during the day, not necessarily direct sun, but light. Then level the ground before placing the box. If there is grass, it is recommended to remove it.

2 drawer

• To form the box you have to join 4 1 meter 2×6” boards.
• The way to join them, to conserve 1 m2 inside, is to take a board and place one end resting on the next board and the opposite end must be free, as if making an L.
• Continue like this until completing the square.

• Repeat the procedure to form the second square.
• Join the boards with 1/4×3” lag screws.
• In its interior corners, place 35 cm stakes of 2×2” boards that will be used to bury and join both boxes.
• Fix them with lag screws to the structure.

3 Interior

• To protect the wood from humidity, it is recommended to line the interior with plastic sleeve.
• Join it to the wood with a stapler.
• Using a screwdriver or a pointed tool, make different holes in the base to break the plastic so that excess irrigation water can pass into the soil, thus ensuring good drainage.

4 substrate

• The substrate must provide nutrients to the plant and be light so that it does not compact.
• To do this we will make a mixture of compost, peat and vermiculite.
• We take the mixture and put it in the drawer.
