A dog person and a non-dog person may not always see eye to eye. Although the non-dog person doesn’t dislike dogs inherently, there may be certain aspects of dog ownership and behavior that they find unpleasant, like the dogs running up on them. It makes sense that one person would express the desire to have a dog while the other wouldn’t, and that can cause tension between them. Thee two simply have different views on dogs and dog ownership, which can lead to tension and conflicts between them. This is the case with today’s OP, who is not exactly a dog lover but her boyfriend was, creating issues in the relationship with his disrespect of her boundaries around the issue. Read the full story for yourself down below to find out how it unfolded:

#1) Oh, boy. This is gonna be an exhausting one.

#2) OP is not a dog person but her long-term boyfriend inherited one about a year ago.

#3) OP’s boyfriend was aware that she didn’t prefer dogs around as she had already refused adopting one before. He visits her every other weekend & asks to bring the adopted dog with him as well.

#4) OP said yes but also set down her boundaries as she works in a hospital and needs her work clothes to remain sanitary.

#5) OP’s boyfriend hasn’t trained the dog properly and is constantly pushing her on OP.

#6) As OP was getting ready for work one day, her boyfriend kept disrespecting her boundaries by asking the dog to jump on her. OP snapped and called him names.

#7) Her boyfriend offers to drive OP to work and on their way the dog keeps climbing on the console. OP’s boyfriend encourages this behavior.

#8) OP tells him off because she wants to remain sanitary for her job but her boyfriend doesn’t respect these boundaries and says she’s overreacting.

#9) OP sets her foot down and says if her boyfriend doesn’t stop, the dog won’t be allowed at her house anymore. Her boyfriend calls her an AH.

#10) Her boyfriend was asked to leave the dog in the kennel but he did not comply.

#11) Due to Covid, OP cannot change at work.

According to the OP, people who love dogs often judge others for their preferences on the matter or lack thereof. Their intense passion for dogs can make them seem over-eager and judgmental, which can make those who are not exactly fur baby lovers feel uneasy or even wronged. It’s important to recognize that everyone has different tastes and preferences when it come to animals, and it doesn’t make anyone better or worse than the next person. Whether they like an animal or not, everyone’s boundaries should be respected as well. Keep on reading to see what the Reddit community said about this situation:
#12) This is very true, it’s well known that it’s not an appropriate thing to let or encourage them to do.

#13) Absolutely spot on. The relationship is not healthy.

#14) The dog wouldn’t mind.

#15) OP’s boyfriend is a world class AH.
