One very important association of Christmas is that with Santa Claus and children absolutely love this. They wait all year long for Santa to come and give them presents for being nice all year long. Kids at times order themselves knowing Santa is watching and that helps parents quite a lot.
However, in today’s story, one grandmother didn’t want her grandchildren to believe in Santa. One Reddit user shared that her mother-in-law is a very religious person, however, she is of the thought that anyone who believes in Santa doesn’t believe in Jesus. She believes Christmas is all about Jesus and that is all.
Out of frustration OP and her husband informed MIL that if she didn’t let their children believe in Santa, she wouldn’t be seeing them for any Christmas again. Scroll down below to read the story!

1. I wonder what brought things to this point…let’s find out.
2. OP’s MIL is a strong believer in the fact that Christmas is all about Jesus and nothing about Santa.
3. MIL is of the thought Santa is a p*ervert who watches children sleep. However, OP and her husband are clear that they want their soon-to-arrive baby to believe in Santa and enjoy all the fun activities associated with him.
4. When the husband shared with his mom their plans to have their kid believe in Santa, she reacted by saying the couple would in a way be making their kid not believe in Jesus this way.
5. OP shared that MIL’s point of view made her uncomfortable because she too was raised religiously but her family never blocked her from believing in Santa.
6. Either the husband wanted to know what it was that bothered his mother about Santa, or he just wanted to trigger her.
7. MIL proceeded to rant about things she hated about Santa.

Perhaps Santa always put this MIL’s on the “naughty” list every year, that is why she hates him so much. It is an imaginary character that kids love. I have no idea how she associated love for Santa being the equivalent of hate for Jesus. I just don’t understand such people. Santa makes all the kids happy. So I am going to assume this grandma doesn’t want her grandchildren to be happy.

8. OP and her husband made it very clear to MIL that if she remained firm with her stance about Santa, he wouldn’t see their baby for Christmas ever again.
9. The husband quickly found a reason to hang up the phone making OP believe he was feeling really frustrated.

10. The matter was taken to the courts of the AITA community by OP to know if the couple’s stance was wrong or not.
Here’s what the internet had to say about this:
11. The only way forward is to go no contact with MIL.

12. From what OP has shared, I think the couple is already united to deal with this matter together as one.

13. She will try to force her beliefs and when the time comes, you must force your beliefs on your kids at the same time.
