Building a Stylish Sofa-Bed, the purpose of this project is to build a sofa that can also be an emergency bed (quite comfortable...)
And also act as a speaker box for home theater.
In my room, the shape of the furniture was particular, so I adopted the shape of the sofa.
Step 1: Materials

- 5 Pieces of wood (multilayer or MDF), the size of the wood depends on the size of the sofa. I used 110 cm x 120 cm (43×47 inches)
- Screwdriver (preferably electric)
- Electric saw
- Screws
- Metal bars to connect the wooden pieces
- Sheets of paper (better if they are large)
- Adhesive tapes
- High density foam (10 cm)
- Low density foam (3 cm)
- Large amount of fabric
- Thin plywood
Step 2: Obtain the form

- Gather all the sheets of paper into one large one (using tape).
- You will use the leaf to take the shape of your sofa.
- Place the large sheet on the floor and press it along the angles to fit all the curves and lines of the furniture.
- The result should be like the one in the photo (I still have the shape of the paper)
Step 3: Cut the wooden pieces

Put the shape of the paper on the wood and with a pencil draw the shape on the wood.
Then start cutting the wood with the saw. TAKE YOUR TIME, you want this job done right!
If the wood does not fit perfectly, try adjusting it with the saw and cutting small pieces of wood.
Step 4: Add the legs to the sofa

- To build a strong sofa I used many legs cut from the fifth piece of wood.
- I fixed the legs to the bottom wood with many L-shaped metal bars.
- Before continuing, I tested the home theater to fit into the center box.
Step 5: Add the Top Pieces of Wood

- Add the top frame pieces being careful to fit them very close to the wall and the curves of the furniture.
- From the top pieces of wood, cut a square to allow easy access to the home theater. The hole will be covered by the cut piece of wood.
TIP:
Add strength to the sofa by attaching the wooden top pieces to the legs via the L-shaped metal bars.
You can also use screws directly (see photos)
Step 6: Add walls to the sofa and some paint

- To hide the legs of the sofa, I used a sheet of plywood.
- First cut the thin plywood with the same height of the sofa.
- Attach the plywood to the center part with 2 screws (as shown in the picture).
- Then slowly bend the wood until it touches the corner of the sofa (it took 5 minutes to do this).
- Fix the plywood to the corner of the sofa with 2 screws.
- Repeat the steps for the other part of the sofa.
- You can also use the remaining parts of the wood pieces to add a door to your home theater box.
- Paint the box with black paint (better if it is matte) and the plywood with white paint. I also put some gray fabric on the floor of the home theater box to hide the metal bars.
- When the paint is dry, you can cover the cut squareor with a piece of wood.
TIP:
If you must access inside the sofa, you can simply remove 2 screws from the corner.
Step 7: Build the soft part of the sofa

- Using the paper shape cut out the high and low density foam cabin. Put the 2 layers of foam together (the low density foam should remain on top because it will give a softer shape to the sofa).
- The same paper shape will also be used to cut the sofa fabric (the fabric shape should be larger than the paper shape for easy sewing).
- You can stop here. By adding some pillows (from Ikea) the sofa is ready to use!
If you have extra fabric, you can try making your own pillows. Greetings!
