Folding Bed Bench! 2026

Folding Bed Bench, I found a version of this bed in an old local barn. I loved the idea and couldn't find any plans online.

This bed works well for a small basement that my wife and I rent.

We love having friends, but if someone has to sleep, they are usually tied to the floor.

This handy bench solves the problem and provides a conversation piece at the same time.

This project posed some complications.

Precision is necessary. Replicating 32 pieces of 1x7/8″x24 with 3 holes drilled in the right place is difficult.

Equipment is expensive, once again, everything has to be the same. I tried to avoid using washing machines and found that the leg pieces were bent and stuck together.

Find material that can flex but is strong enough.

I chose this canvas, but it will still need to be reinforced with a cotton belt along the edge to prevent the eyelets from tearing from the fabric.

What I learned:

• It is not necessary to replicate exactly what you see, I made the legs 1×7/8×24″ because that was the original. It would be easier to do it 1x1x24
• Sand after everything but before applying a finish.
• Be flexible and don't stick to the original design if it doesn't work.
• I hope everyone enjoys the photographs.
