Make a Lamp from a Bottle, using parts from the hardware store, you can make a lamp from an old bottle for very low cost.
Step 1: Materials and tools

You will need:
- A suitable bottle: I used a champagne bottle. Use any bottle you like, as long as it is heavy enough to balance your lamp rig.
- Lamp Kit: A stabilizer cap to fit the opening of your bottle (rubber stopper) with a hole in the middle, a short section of threaded rod to fit inside the cap, a basic light bulb socket with cap, switch and housing, some electrical cord and a wall plug.
- Lampshade
- wingnut to provide shade for the harp
Tools:
- Pliers
- Knife
- Screwdriver
Step 2: Connect the bottle

Adjust the size of your rubber stopper to fit your bottle.
I did this by shaving the sides with a utility knife until it fit.
Place the threaded rod through the cap with about 1/4 inch protruding, and fit the assembly onto the bottle.
Then I shaved the remaining plug so it was flush.
Step 3: Connect the lamp

Place the harp base and ferrule cap on the threaded rod, and tighten the ferrule cap with your screwdriver.
Next, pass the electrical cord through the hole in the lid and tie a "belayer's knot." (See image.) Wrap the stripped ends of your wire around the terminal screws in the socket and tighten them.
Next, slide the paper-lined socket housing over the entire assembly and clip the socket assembly onto the socket cover.
There are small teeth that catch on the slots in the lid, so just shake it back and forth until it clicks and is stable.
Step 4: Add the Bulb and Shade

Screw in your light bulb, add the harp top, curtain, and plug it in! If there are no sparks, you connected it correctly and without short circuits.
Flick the switch and enjoy the glow!
