In keeping with the upcoming high season, the German travel provider Ltur is currently auctioning off trips for two people each. The travel packages from the Tui subsidiary include the all-round carefree package with flight, hotel, transfer and train tickets to the airport. Prices start at one euro. Every month Ltur offers new auctions. Five trips for two people each are currently being auctioned off on the Tui subsidiary website. These include luxury accommodations, boutique hotels and all-inclusive resorts. The price also includes flights with transfers and train tickets to the airport. The auction of the holiday starts with the minimum bid of just 1 euro. You can also see how much the trip is actually worth and the period in which it will take place. A timer also shows the duration of the auction. And here's the catch: the price you end up paying for the trip depends entirely on how the auction goes. The current bids for trips worth around 2,000 euros are already over 1,000 euros. In addition, the trip must be started under the precisely specified conditions. That raises questions. Jakob Martens says: "Theoretically, yes. However, the travel value is presented to the bidder from the start and at all times. This provides a guideline and creates transparency for the bidder. The price is of course dynamic and the bidder can find out about the current prices at any time during the auction and otherwise purchase the trip in the normal way."
Jakob Martens says: "We initially started with the core target group of couples, but in the future we also want to give families and singles the chance to buy an auction trip. Our primary goal is to give users a new type of access to travel via a gamification/engagement approach and to strengthen our positioning as a deal platform."

What are the requirements?
To participate in the vacation from 1 euro auction, a user account is required. In addition, subsequent changes to the vacation purchased are not possible. This means that both the period of the trip and the departure and destination airport cannot be adjusted individually. In addition, the type of food and the number and identity of travelers cannot be changed subsequently. It is therefore important to read the conditions of each trip carefully before bidding. This way, unpleasant surprises can be avoided – and nothing stands in the way of the thrill of the auction.

How do the auctions work?
By logging into your customer account you can bid diligently. The traveler's details and travel dates must be provided in advance. Neither can be changed later. There is a minimum bid for every auction. This applies to the first bid as well as the subsequent bids. The minimum bid to start the auction is one euro; a higher amount applies for subsequent amounts. The note “Following bids: + €20 more” describes that each new bid must be at least €20 higher than the current highest bid. However, there are no upper limits to the amounts - and the final savings on the regular travel price may not be that big.
