We’ve seen so many hit and flop animated movies over time.
Speaking of animated movies, if there is a production house that has provided us with the rare, gem of animated movies, it is Dreamworks Animations. An organization found in 1994 that took the world spellbound with the amazing and mindblowing animation work that they have done. With a market capitalization of $3.46 Billion, just exceeding that of Lionsgate, Dreamworks has all the firepower in its arsenal to produce masterpieces to sweep the world of animation productions. Many of its masterpieces are being watched to date and that too with the same level of excitement and joy. It certainly has a massive legacy, there is no doubt about that.
Gone is the time when conversations regarding animations would only contain the names of Disney or Pixar Studios, now the likes of Dreamworld and Lionsgate are joining those conversations as well.
But as we all know, it doesn’t take much to trip a giant over. It is organizations and organizations that do make mistakes, it is very normal for those managing the companies to make mistakes and they often haunt you. While Dreamworks has provided us with many blockbusters, there have been incidents where they have failed to amuse the audience. Movies we referred to as “they didn’t age too well”.
Let’s take a look at some of Dreamworks’ work that certainly aged well and works that didn’t.
Scroll down below to enjoy!
1. Bee – Aged Well. Very surprising as this extremely confusing movie was so bad that it ended up being so good. Very suspicious.
2. Shrek 2 – Aged Well. Many believe it did better than the original Shrek movie. The risk was high and expectations were low, but the film was a blockbuster and fully delivered.
3. Shrek – Aged Well. Ever heard of “Destined for Greatness”? Well, that’s exactly what Shrek was. The unique concept encompassed with comedy really did sweep the world away.
A legacy.
4. How To Train Your Dragon 1,2,3 – Aged well. The trilogy kept the audience vested and was a glamorous show of work by Dreamworks Animations. One of their priciest gems.
Sequels are what either kill you or make you immortal. And for How To Train Your Dragon, the latter was certainly true.
5. The Road to El Dorado – Aged really well. An original idea that Dreamworks will always be remembered for, a box office star when it was first released. This movie turned a lot of eyes towards the animation studio.
The movies we just went through did help formulate childhood for a lot of us. These animated movies are a huge part of our lives. The next part sheds light on projects that did not always go too well for Dreamworks. And sends a great message that a spike is bound to change roite.
Now let’s look at some of the projects that did not age well.
6. Rise of the Guardians – Did not age well. Basically, a rip-off of The Avengers and the public noticed that fairly easily.
7. Boss Baby – Didn’t age well. Let’s just say, they hyped the movie so high and it failed to meet all expectations. A rather simple pitch that didn’t amuse the target audience.

8. Last two Shrek movies – Did not age well. They should’ve ended the franchise after the second one as it barely managed to hold on to the expectations, 3rd and 4th films were just straight-up bad.
9. Sinbad: League of the Seven Seas – Didn’t age well. Classified as a complete failure. We really don’t know what they were thinking of when they created this movie.

10. Shark Tale – Did not age well. Despite the audience’s attempt to rewatch the movie with a positive mindset, things never worked out for this movie.
I really hope you guys enjoyed it. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section down below.
