Carrefour's Portable AC Heats and Cools All Year 2026

Carrefour's portable air conditioner, the Infiniton PAC-BD12, is a 4-in-1 unit that not only cools but also heats, dehumidifies, and circulates air, all controllable via WiFi from your smartphone. Priced at 399 euros, this model aims to provide year-round climate control without the need for complex installations or facade alterations.

Many portable ACs are limited to cooling only, but the PAC-BD12 integrates a heat pump, making it a versatile solution for both summer and winter. With a cooling capacity of 3,520 frigorías (12,000 BTU) and equivalent heating power, it can quickly climatize rooms between 20 and 30 square meters.

What Makes the Infiniton PAC-BD12 Stand Out?

The Infiniton PAC-BD12 is designed as a 4-in-1 device: it cools, heats, dehumidifies, and functions as a standalone fan. This versatility means you can switch from cooling to heating with just a button press, ensuring comfort across seasons.

Its heating capability comes from an integrated heat pump, which is more energy-efficient than traditional electric heaters. The dehumidification mode helps reduce ambient humidity, while the fan mode circulates air without temperature change.

• 4-in-1 functionality: cooling, heating, dehumidification, and fan modes.
• WiFi connectivity: control and monitor from your smartphone.
• Powerful capacity: 3,520 frigorías (12,000 BTU) for rooms up to 30 m².
• No installation required: portable design avoids structural works.
• Competitive price: 399 euros at Carrefour.

How Does WiFi Control Enhance Usability?

With built-in WiFi, the PAC-BD12 can be controlled remotely via a smartphone app. This allows you to turn the unit on or off, adjust settings, and schedule operations from anywhere, ensuring your home is comfortable when you arrive.

Smart connectivity also enables integration with voice assistants, though specific compatibility should be confirmed with the manufacturer. This feature adds convenience, especially for those who want to manage home climate without being physically present.

Performance and Efficiency: What to Expect

The PAC-BD12 delivers 3,520 frigorías for cooling and equivalent heating, suitable for medium to large rooms. Its heat pump technology is generally more efficient than resistive heating, potentially reducing energy consumption during winter.

However, portable ACs typically have lower energy efficiency ratings than split systems. Users should consider the unit's energy label and their local electricity rates to estimate operating costs.

Who Is This Portable AC For?

This unit is ideal for homeowners or renters who lack central HVAC or cannot install split systems due to structural or rental restrictions. It's also suitable for those who want a backup heating solution for winter or a portable cooling option for different rooms.

Given its capacity, it works best in open-plan living areas, large bedrooms, or small offices. The WiFi control appeals to tech-savvy users who value remote management and scheduling. What to Consider Before Buying

While the PAC-BD12 offers versatility, portable ACs require venting through a window or opening, which can affect efficiency. Also, they tend to be noisier than split systems, so consider placement in bedrooms. A closer look at the same subject appears in Urban Heat Islands: How Smart Tree Planting Cools Cities. Check the energy efficiency rating and compare with other models. The initial price of 399 euros is competitive for a heat pump unit, but long-term energy costs matter.
