Procedure:

#1. We measure the size we want

When cutting small, thin parts like this, a small stick will be used to hold it so it doesn't get caught and fly away.

#3. Sanding

To avoid sanding, I used a low angle Jack Plane and Veritas to smooth all the pieces and leave a smooth, shiny finish.

#4. Glue the top and bottom rail

I set up the chisels first and used a small block of spacers between them just to set the distances so everything would fit. The bottom bar only needs space at each end and the top can be however much you want for your chisels.

Then I glued and pressed the pieces together, as I've been careful to keep everything flush in the photos, but it's not necessary as we can clean it up afterwards.

#5. Clean the top and bottom rails

Now we will just make the top surface and the bottom surface flat so that everything is clean and nice, to do that you just have to use the hand plane again, which is the Veritas low angle jack plane, if you don't have this tool you can use sandpaper and a sanding block that will also have the same result.

#6. Paste

What you want to do is rub a little glue on the ends, because if you think about straw-fine grains, it will absorb a lot more glue than the face grain, so we'll only work a little bit there, but I have a pretty decent surface area for the size of the project, so it won't have any problems at all.

Then I just pin it, leave it overnight to dry.

#7. Final touches

We removed the clamps and used a block plane to level the ends with the rails. Next, we apply Minwax polyurethane.
