The definitive guide to building your own paving stone floor in your garden, we present a new DIY proposal for your gardens and patios at home. There is nothing that gives us greater satisfaction than doing things ourselves. Today's idea is to take advantage of a free day at home and build a cobblestone path ourselves in our patio or garden.
Make your own paving stone floor

It is not necessary that we buy all the tools. Some of them you can rent and use only that day or you can seek help if you think you need them.
MATERIALS
- Cobblestones in necessary quantity.
- Cobblestone or brick cutting machine
- Gravel and sand
- Landscape fabric for gardening in the necessary quantity.
TOOLS
- hammer for laying paving stones,
- broom or similar,
- shovel
- level
- rakes
- tool for tamping the soil.
Procedure
First Step: Clean the area where we will place the path
To do this, if necessary, we will have to eliminate the bushes along with their stumps and roots.
It is good to dig out about 6 inches of soil to make room for the foundation and pavers. Then we must rake the soil level and tamp the soil to create a firm bed.

Second Step: Avoid weed growth
To control them, there is nothing better than using landscape fabric. We will place this on the bed that we have made.
You have to be careful with the edges to avoid taking risks. The good thing about this fabric is it allows water to flow through, but blocks weeds from germinating.

Third step: Covering with crushed gravel
Next, we should spread a 2-inch layer of crushed gravel evenly over the landscape fabric.
It is good to use an iron rake to smooth the layer.

Fourth step: Tamping the crushed gravel
Now we must tamp the crushed gravel until the base is very firm. This will help ensure that the pavers lay evenly.
Then we add another 2 inches of gravel and press again.

Fifth Step: Check the floor level
Next we must verify the level of the floor that we have assembled. For this we must place a level on a long, straight board or wood.
Then, we pass the board with the level over the rest of the bed that we have made to verify the level across the entire surface.
We will adjust when necessary to make the surface as level as possible.

Sixth step: Spread sand and smooth
The next step is to add 1 to 2 inches of construction sand on top of the gravel. We place a long straight board along the base we are assembling.
With the rake we spread the sand and then use the long board to smooth it.

Seventh step: Cut pavers to exact size
We are now ready to start placing the pavers. It is good to combine different sizes since we will achieve a better appearance when we finish the work.
We can buy pavers of different sizes or buy larger ones and cut them. Remember that we can rent the machine or tool for this and that with a small one we will be fine.

Eighth step: Place paving stones correctly
When we start placing the paving stones we must be very careful with the lines and the level. If necessary, we can place mason lines between two stakes to maintain the lines.
To place the pavers we must use a rubber hammer. The recommended distance between paver and paver is 1/8 inch.

Ninth step: Spread a layer of sand
Once we finish installing all the pavers, we have to spread a surface layer of sand.
In this way we will complete the joints and cracks. We must spread it with a broom or broom and when finished it is good to water the surface so that the sand settles and we can complete and fix new cracks.
We apply a little more sand again, and water again. If everything is fine we are done!
