County Cricket Day Two: Somerset, Warwickshire, Notts Lead 2026

County cricket day two delivered thrilling action as Somerset, Warwickshire, and Nottinghamshire each made significant strides in their Division One title pursuits. With live updates from the grounds, fans witnessed standout performances, including Ethan Bamber's five-wicket haul that dismantled Glamorgan's top order.

Ethan Bamber's Masterclass

Ethan Bamber was the chief destroyer for Warwickshire, claiming five for 28 as Glamorgan were bowled out for a paltry 69 at Sophia Gardens. His spell, which included three for five from Ed Barnard, set the tone for the day. Bamber admitted, "I got a good amount of good fortune. The pitch seamed a bit, but I think just repeat good balls actually. I was lucky to return those figures, I didn't bowl my best at all."

Despite his modesty, Bamber's performance passed 50 wickets for the season, a testament to his consistency. The visitors capitalized on the favorable conditions, easing to 154 for three by stumps.

Nottinghamshire's Resilience

Nottinghamshire faced early trouble at 20 for three, but Joe Clarke's fourth Championship century of the season anchored a remarkable recovery. Liam Patterson-White contributed a valuable 92, and the tail added crucial runs to push Notts past 350. Kyle Abbott's early strikes for Hampshire proved insufficient as the pitch offered little assistance later in the day.

Title Contenders' Progress

With Somerset also enjoying a profitable day, the race for the Division One title intensifies. Each of the top three teams demonstrated their credentials, setting up a thrilling final stretch.
