Mark a center line at the top edge of the Corridor. Measuring from this line, mark the locations of the inside edges of the Uprights and the outside edges of the Rake Uprights, as shown.tra.
Also mark the locations of the outer edges of the angled uprights. Attach all Uprights and Slanted Uprights to the Slide at these marks, and as shown, using 2 1/2″ outside pocket hole screws.
Next, center the Rail on the Uprights, and fasten the Rail, again using 2 1/2″ outside pocket hole screws.
Step 4: Build the half frames (Half of a full frame)

Measuring from the inside end of the Half-Runners (Half-Runner), mark the locations of the inside edges of the Uprights as shown. Also mark the locations of the outer edges of the inclined vertical supports.
Attach the Uprights and Raked Uprights to the Half Runners using 2 1/2″ outside pocket hole screws.
Place the Half Rails in this assembly with the inside ends of the Half Rails protruding 2 1/2″ beyond the inside edges of the Uprights. Drive 2 1/2" pocket screws on the outside to secure the assembly.
Step 5: Assemble the base

Center a half-frame assembly on the full-frame assembly, making sure the edges of the rails are flush.
Insert screws for 2 1/2″ exterior pocket holes. Repeat this to join the assembly of the second half of the frame.
Step 6: Add the clamps

Mark the locations of the top edges of the keys on the vertical studs.
Place each clamp with equal spacing between the miter tips and the edges of the uprights, and then drive 2 1/2″ pocket screws on the outside to secure the clamps.
Step 7: Cut the slats

Intermediate cuts of four inner slats (slats), four center slats, and four outer slats to size from the cedar planks, as shown in the plank cutting diagram (Cut List).
Set your pocket hole template and bit stop collar for 1″ thick material, and then drill pocket holes into the slats, as shown.
Step 8: Attach the slats

Hold the base assembly upside down to a flat surface. To ensure the base assembly is square, first screw the four inner slats into place with 1 1/2″ outer pocket hole screws.
Then add the center slats and then the outer slats. There will be small gaps between the slats.
Step 9: Finish the table
Some of the pocket holes will be visible after final assembly. If you wish, you can glue cedar pocket plugs into these exposed holes, and then trim the plugs flush. This step is totally optional.
Sand to slightly bevel or round on all cut ends and exposed edges.
Also do any final sanding that is necessary to prepare for finishing. Wipe off sanding dust when finished and then apply an oil-based toner/exterior paint.
If you are going to use the table on a terrace or patio, screw nylon straps to the bottom edges of the Runner and Half Runners.
Step 10: Cut the Seat Parts

Building the seats is very similar to building the table. Then, you can go ahead and cut out all the parts. Just make sure you cut them consistently and keep them organized.
First, cut the Runners, Uprights, Rails, Half Runners, and Half Rails to size from the 2x4 cedar boards, as shown in the cutting diagram.
Cut the chamfers on the ends of the Runners, Rails, Half Runners and Half Rails.
Miter cut the uprights and braces to size from the 2x4 cedar boards. Cut the slats to size for the cedar deck boards.
Set the pocket hole jig and 11/2″ thick and drill holes in all pieces except slats. Also drill pilot holes through the braces. These will be used to hold the slats.
Step 11: Create the complete frames

Mark a center line at the top edge of each runner.
Measuring from this line, mark the locations of the inside edges of the Uprights.
Attach the Uprights to the Runners using 2 1/2″ outside pocket hole screws.
Note the opposite pocket hole locations on each pair of Uprights. Center the Rails on the Uprights, fasten and screw in the pocket screws.
Step 12: Join half of the corridors and verticals

Measuring from the inside end of the Half Runners, mark the locations of the inside edges of the Uprights.
Then use 2 1/2″ exterior pocket screws to attach the Uprights to the Half Runners.
Step 13: Add the Half Rails

Place a Half Runner/Verticles assembly and a Half Rail on a flat surface.
Use a square to align the ends of the Half Runner and Half Rail as shown.
Attach the Upright to the Half Rail using 2 1/2″ exterior pocket hole screws.
Repeat with the remaining Half Runner/Vertical assemblies and Half Rails.
Step 14: Assemble the seat base

Center a half frame on a full frame, making sure the runners and rails are aligned.
Then, insert 2 1/2″ exterior pocket hole screws to secure the assembly. Do the same to add a second half frame.
Repeat with the remaining full and half-frame assemblies.
Step 15: Add the clamps

Hold one of the seat bases upside down on a flat surface.
Place the clamps between the rail and the half rails with equal spacing between the tips of the rail ends and the half rail.
Screw the clamps into place. Repeat with the remaining base assemblies and clamps.
Step 16: Attach the slats

Place three slats on a flat surface with the ends flush and 3/8″ spaces between them.
Center a base assembly over the slats and then drive 2″ exterior pocket screws through the pocket holes in the brackets and into the slats.
Repeat with the remaining slats and bases.
Step 17: The shape of the seat

Turn the seats right side up. Mark the center of each slat center. Draw a 17″ diameter (8 1/2″ radius) circle on the slats.
Using a chainsaw fitted with a fine-tooth blade, cut the seats to shape.
Forms the seat
TIP: DRAW BIG CIRCLES EASILY
For most circles, a circle larger than 6-9″ in diameter will not be drawn.
Step 18: Finished!

As with the table, you can add cedar plugs to the stools, if you wish. Sand slight bevels or rounds on the top edges as well as all cut endsand exposed edges. Apply an oil-based exterior toner/finish.
With the dry finish, the screw nylon slides on the bottom edges of the Runners and Half Runners. Then, get ready to enjoy great outdoor dining experiences at your new picnic table.
