Learn how to protect the steps of your staircase, a simple but practical trick that you can use on the stairs in your home. This trick consists of placing an angle to avoid having to change the plates that are damaged on their edges due to falling objects. Although you can also use it to prevent breakage or even for decorative reasons.
To create the angle you can use aluminum, although they also exist in pvc and we can buy them in a multitude of colors: white, black, green, blue, etc... With which you will not have problems when matching the colors of your room.
The installation is extremely simple, we will measure and cut with a manual miter saw and we will begin to glue with double-sided tape or some glue.

Materials
- Aluminum or PVC angle
- Glue or putty to stick aluminum and/or PVC or double-sided tape
Tools
- Meter
- Pencil
- Saw, miter saw...
- Silicone gun (optional)
Important note: We must use the necessary protective measures to carry out the task, such as gloves, ear protectors, glasses.
#1. In this case, the angled aluminum profile has been used to avoid having to change the platelets that are damaged. As can be seen in the photo, the edge of the top step plate is broken. Therefore, to correct the problem we can place an angle, this way we avoid having to put a new plate, and also prevent them from continuing to break.

#2. After measuring and cutting the angle to the necessary measurement to cover the step. We proceed to glue it, we can use double-sided tape or some mounting putty or glue that we can buy at hardware stores, DIY centers, among other places.
In my case, I used a glue, which I spread over the entire upper interior of the angle with the help of a silicone can gun.

#3. Next, we place the angle in its place and apply pressure on it for a few moments so that it is fixed correctly.

#4. And that's it, in this easy way we can solve the damaged ends of the steps, or if they are not damaged, prevent them from being damaged. Or why not, as decorative elements.
It is possible that if we place the angle next to a door, it will be necessary to brush the bottom part of it to be able to open and close it. Therefore, we must take this detail into account when carrying out the task.
