Lego Themed Door Knob, a fun and simple project to give the child's room its own personal door knob.

#1: Materials

Materials needed:

• Legos (this one was made with 2×4 and 2×2 bricks)
• Bookmark
• Rule
• CA glue (or epoxy)
• Putty
• Drill bits

Design your Legos in a pattern that is colorful and close to the shape of the doorknob
(You can get a lot more creativity if you have different shaped bricks)

#2: 

• Paste your Legos (a little sanding for better gluing)
• Have a napkin nearby to remove it as quickly as possible
• Glue the bottoms to help with strength.

#3:

• Design knob and glue together

#4:

• Fill the center section with caulk (Durhams Water Caulk is very strong)
• This area will be where the new controller will connect to the previous one.
• I replaced the inside knob as it has no spring to try to recreate.

#5: 

• As the putty hardens, you can slide the center bar to make a snug fit.
• If you wait for a 3/8″ hole it will do a good job.

#6:

• Transfer the hole locations from the original door and drill them out with a drill bit to prevent the drill bit from straying.

#7:

• Place the new base plate on the door as you would a normal door knob.
• Make sure the glue is dry before applying too much pressure.

#8:

• Adjust the depth of the center hole to the appropriate depth.

#9: 

• Now the screws are hidden. Make sure you leave room to turn the knob without it sticking.

#10:

Tips I found during construction:

• Be sure to completely cover the old doorknob hole
• One of the knobs is spring-loaded, so be sure to hold on to it (can be switched inside the room if you wish)
• A standard door knob set is made of knobs that connect together and firmly tighten the door. This involves a separate base plate.
• Because of this, you may need to glue the center shaft onto the knobs (use something removable if you need to work on the door knob)
