Look at the following remodeling of a wooden staircase, you can see how each step of a section of the staircase is remodeled from scratch.
Now let's see how it was made by looking at each image and its respective description.

The old bands were not glued (as they should have been) so this remodeling was done.
To begin, all existing treads and risers were removed up to the stair stringers.

When removing the bands and railings, the new bands were prepared with wood conditioner, stain and polyurethane.
This process took a long time with two coats of conditioner, three coats of stain, and three coats of polyurethane.

In this case the fasteners on each rung were not aligned correctly and had to be adjusted.
To adjust the height, blocks were cut from scrap wood and placed on the stringer using subfloor adhesive and nails to hold them in place.
The height we went with was 7 and 1/8 inches.

Notches were cut for the edge of the skirting and attached to the wall with 2-inch nails.

Starting with the first step, the person who did this job measured the entire staircase to cut the first risers.
To wrap the entire base step, glue was used on the wood corners for the adhesive mitered edge on the subfloor for the riser and stringer contact. A nailer to fix in place.

It is recommended to install two elevators for each one.
In this part a notch was made in the first crossbar to fit the skirt on the right side, as well as the returns on each side.
Note: The left and right edges of a tread are a square edge, so for the edges the appearance is rounded.

How to install a stair lift:
- Cut the riser to fit your space
- Attach the stingers with subfloor adhesive
- Put the lift in place
- Nail with 2 inch finishing nails.

How to install a tread:
- Cut the tread to fit your space
- Attach the stringer with subfloor adhesive
- Put the tread in place
- Nail with 2-1/2” finishing nails
- Pre-drill and screw the standpipe to the tread from the back (inside of the stairs) so that there is no gap between the tread and the standpipe.
