Wait a second, have you made your own vertical blinds? Because I did it, you can do it too. It's actually very easy!

Supply list:

• Pallet or pallet wood, extra long
• 1″ binding rings (also known as loose leaf rings or book rings)
• Turn Key Tags
• Top board connectors
• 3/4″ annular hangars
• 3/8″ threaded rod, 1/12″ long
• 1/2″ diameter conduit
• 20 gauge copper wire, brown

Tools:

• Screw gun
• Drill
• 3″ circular saw
• Grinder
• Square beam
• 1/8″ drill bit
• 1/4″ drill bit

Step 1: Install the top plate connector

Screw the top plate connector into your window frame. Screw on the 3/8″ threaded rod and 3/4″ split ring hangars.

Step 2: Install the duct bar

Cut 1/2″ diameter conduit to length and install into split ring hangers.

Step 3: Measurement

Measure from the center of the duct to the window sill to get the length of the piece of wood. Subtract the length of the hanging hardware and leave room for the wood pieces to hang freely and move.

Step 4: Cut the wood, drill the holes, fix the equipment

Cut the wood to size. Measure 1/2″ down from the top edge and center, then drill a 1/4″ hole.

Along the edges, drill holes 1/8″ to 1/4″ from the edge as connection points for the blinds in three locations:

Center, one foot from the top, one foot from the bottom. Slide the 1″ binding ring through the large hole and attach the twist key tag.

Step 5: Hang up and connect

Hang the pieces on the duct. Cut 20 gauge (or better, 16 gauge) copper wire into 6″ pieces. Thread the thread through holes 1/8″ from the back and twist the ends together. Ready! Recycled wood vertical blinds!
