Simple Way to Make Recycled Paper Baskets, you can always use old newspapers, magazines, calendars, paper bags, etc. to create a series of unique and impressive craft projects.
Recycling old newspapers, magazines, calendars into eco-friendly baskets is one of the amazing eco-friendly craft projects 🙂 These baskets turn out to be quite solid and useful… Plus, eco-friendly crafts always refresh and satisfy your mind.
I'm sure we all have a lot of old newspapers or any type of old paper at home, so grab all the products and let's recycle.

Step 1: Necessary materials

To make these baskets you will need:
- Paper: newspaper, old magazine, old calendars, brown paper, etc.
- Clothespins
- Stapler.
Step 2: Make strips of paper

First of all we need to make many strips of paper, making strips can vary with the thickness of the paper you are using:
- For thick papers such as old magazines, old calendars, etc. Cut 2 inches wide and 14 inches (at least) long strips of paper.
- Fold the papers in half 2 times to make the strips sturdy.
- For the newspaper, I had to cut strips 3 inches wide and use all the length there was.
- Fold the strip in half and then into even thirds to make sturdy strips.
Make as many strips of paper as you want.
Step 3: The bottom

Before you start weaving, you should know that to make this basket you will need to use an even number of strips. The number of strips must be "proportional" even after dividing them in two, for example, you cannot use 6 strips because there will be 3 strips after dividing them in two.
For this basket I used 8 strips of paper. 4 strips for each side:
- Take 2 folded strips and mark their center.
- Place them in a cross making sure both centers touch.
- Now start adding (over and under weaving) strips on both sides of the cross.
- I made a 4x4 square for this basket.
You can add more strips if you want, but make sure the number of strips is even and equal on all sides.
Step 4: Prepare the base

After weaving the bottom of the basket, you will need to prepare the base:
- You can staple or join the 4 edges, otherwise the fabrics would come off.
- Use a marker or pencil to draw a square on the base as shown in the 2nd image of this step, this will be the base of the basket.
- Now, fold the woven base along the marked part and release the fold.
Do the same for the 4 sides.
Step 5: The corners

This is the hard part.
You have to start knitting from one side.
- Divide the strips in half on one side and start weaving with the center strips (see picture),
- Work over and under, starting from the center strips on either side.
- Now, go to the next corner, but make sure to secure the woven corner with a clothespin.the clothes.
- Weave the 4 corners similarly and pin at least 3 woven corners otherwise they will come off.
Step 6: Weave the basket

After making the corners of the basket, the rest of the weaving would seem easy.
- Remove the clothespin one by one as you weave each side.
- Simply knit over and under.
- Continue weaving over and under until the basket reaches the required length or until there is one inch left on the shortest strip.
Step 7: Complete the basket

Okay, now let's complete the rim of the basket.
- Starting with the shorter strips, hold the 2 strips (diagonally, as they are).
- Fold the strip inside (on or off),
- Now fold the other strip inside (which is below).
- Turn the basket over as you will need to see the inside.
- Weave the second folded strip under the strip next to it (inside the basket).
- Continue folding the edge using this technique until it is done.
Using this technique, the edge of the basket will be secure enough and you will not need to use glue. The basket will become sturdy enough once it is complete.
You can make baskets of different sizes and colors depending on the size, number and pattern of the strips. Enjoy!
