How to install a socket with a switch, surely on more than one occasion you have wanted to install yourself a socket with a switch which will allow you to turn off an appliance without having to unplug it, you can simply turn it off or on with the switch. This way, only the appliance (TV, laptop, etc...) will be on.
This time we will show you how you can place your own switch socket in a simple and practical way.

Materials
- switch
- 1.5 mm piece of cable
Tools
- flat and/or star screwdriver
- cuts cables
Procedure:
Recommendation: To carry out the task we must lower the light lever so as not to work with tension. Lowering the plug lever is enough, but if in doubt, it is better to lower the general lever or all the levers.
#1. We are going to install a switch to a socket to be able to control the socket. This way, when the switch is on there will be current in the socket while when the switch is off there will be no current in the socket. Therefore, we assume that we have a plug installed and we want to add a switch to control it.

#2. We start by placing the switch next to the plug, the way to place it will depend on the design of each manufacturer. There will be 3 cables coming to the plug: the blue one that corresponds to the neutral, the green-yellow one that corresponds to the ground, and finally the brown, black or gray cable that corresponds to the phase.

#3. We release the phase wire (brown, black or gray wire), and connect it to the input of the switch. This input is usually marked with an arrow, or with a red mark,... If there is no type of mark indicating the input, we can connect it to any of the connections.

#4.Next, we cut a piece of wire 1.5 mm in diameter, stripped the ends and placed one end of the wire where we previously had connected the phase in the socket. Then, we connect the other end of the cable to the output of the switch. In this simple way the current will reach the switch. When you turn the switch to the on position, current will flow to the plug, while turning the switch to the off position will not allow current to flow to the plug, and therefore there will be no current in it.

#5. Therefore, in this simple way we will have a plug controlled by a switch, allowing current to flow depending on whether we have the switch in the on position, or no current will flow if we put it in the off position.
