Personalized Wall Tool Holder so when it's time to put everything away, everything has a place so you can see exactly where it shouldn't be.
Step 1: Planning

After having a pegboard system for many years, I didn't like how it worked and held my tools. Some tools always wanted to fall out and I felt like a lot of space was wasted due to the preset distance of the pegs. When deciding what type of system I wanted to set up, I opted not to set up a French clamp system as I felt that once set up, the tool holders would not need to be moved. French cleats have their place, but I didn't feel like my tool wall was the place for them.
If your workbench has ever looked like the first image, you definitely need a tool wall. Before you start with any tool holder, pull out everything you think you want to store on the wall and sort it all out. Decide what you want to be easily accessible and what you want to store in your toolbox for less use. Once you have a rough idea of the headlines you need to make, start making!
Step 2: Screwdriver Holder

I have a pretty good set of Klein screwdrivers that I use all the time. Naturally, I wanted these to be easy to access. I made this shelf-like bra with notches. All of the drilled holes in the top of the shelf match the profile of the base around the handle so they all rest securely. My original plan was to have holes to take out the screwdrivers. Upon further thought, I didn't like that idea because it would mean I would need empty space above the bracket to allow the screwdrivers to be removed. Using the band saw, I cut notches from the front of the bracket on either side of the hole large enough to fit the screwdrivers through.
Step 3: Nut Driver Holder

This holder is made in exactly the same way as the screwdriver holder. Although this one was much simpler since the handle profile is exactly the same taper for all screwdrivers.
Step 4: Chisel Holder

I really liked the idea of being able to see the size of each chisel while it was in the holder. This was done by laying each chisel evenly and marking the width of each one. Using a flat-tooth blade on the table saw, cut dice to fit the size of each chisel. Cut a piece of plexiglass to the size of the bra and clamp it in place. Drill the first holes through the plexiglass into the wood and secure with the flat head screws. Repeat this process with the other half. Mount a back piece of wood to allow you a place to secure the bracket to the wall of your tool.
Step 5: Planer Holder

I started with a piece of wood the width of his plane and a few more inches on each side. Cut a small channel in the base to clear your blade. On another piece, draw the profile of the plane's heel and cut it on the band saw. Glue that piece in place. I forgot to take photos of this part, but find another piece of scrap wood the thickness of your plane and glue it on top. Cut a "fork" from another piece that fits around the front knob and glue it in place. Glue the edges to each side of the holder to help guide the plane into place when you insert it into the holder.
Step 6: Support Key

This is a very simple bracket that uses angled pins to secure my metric and SAE combination wrench sets. Once evenly spaced, the holes were drilled just above the center with a drill press. The pins were glued in place.
Step 7: Carpenter Framing Square Holder

The framing square is secured by using two L-shaped brackets.
Step 8: Square Shelf

This rack was made to hold my combination, attempt and set of machinist's squares. A hole was then drilled to hold my scratch punch. The shelf has ledges on each side to prevent the squares from falling over. A slot was cut where the squares were placed centered on each other.
Step 9: Shelf for tape measures

This is a simple shelf with a shelf around the holero to prevent the measuring tapes from falling.
Step 10: Drill Press

The drill vise is held with two wooden hooks attached to a piece of wood. These hooks fit onto the sides of the vise to keep it in place. This makes it easy to remove when lifting it out of the stand.
Step 11: Hammer Holder

These hammers are held in place with the same technique as combination wrenches. With a larger angled tang, these hammers should never fall off the wall.
Step 12: Mark Caliper Holder

The brand indicator bracket was made from a simple block. Using a shovel or Forstner bit, drill a shallow hole the size of the base of the meter. This will give an advantage for the marking indicator to hold on to. Drill through the center of the previous hole a little larger than the axis of the marker. Using a band saw, remove the front of the bracket to reveal the internal slot. Drill a hole in the back of the slot to secure the bracket to the wall.
Step 13: Pliers Holder

The pliers holder is simply a pin supported by two end pieces. This holder can be adapted to any length depending on how you have the pliers.
Step 14: Depth Gauge Holder

My depth gauge has two magnets attached to the bottom. Using this, I embedded two magnets into a piece of wood that will adhere to the depth gauge magnets.
Step 15: Speed Square Holder

I have a larger speed box and a smaller one. Each one has the same hole in the same place. This allowed for an easy stepped support that could support both squares at once.
Step 16: Miscellaneous

I have a larger shelf that was made similarly to my sopuse of measuring tape. The only difference is that it has multiple supports supporting it from below to ensure that it can support more weight. I had a few pencil holders that I made a while ago by drilling a large hole with a drill bit in a piece of wood, and then securing it to the wall through the breakout hole through the front. My digital angle indicator and dial indicator are kept on a shelf. They are made in the same way as the tape measure rack.
Some tools are secured with small nails just like my digital tweezers.
Step 17: Layout

Once you're happy with all your headlines, set them up with the most common tools at your fingertips.
Step 18: Fill the wall with tools
This is the best part! You are now ready to attach all your supports to the wall. Making sure they are all level, you can line up similar ones. I did this with my screwdrivers. This allowed me to have one more space for my ratchet bit driver that I hadn't even planned on.
