Cats Choosing Best Spots To Sit With No Regrets 2026

There’s something about cats and cardboard boxes, the two just go along very well. We’ve seen cats sitting in boxes as big as a human and as small as a matchbox. There’s something about a box that makes them ignore even a $100 comfy and absolutely soft cat bed. It just seems worthless to them in the presence of a box. In general, cats enjoy sitting in the most indescribably weird spots one can possibly imagine. Although we are unable to understand the science behind that, we are well aware that cats are smart. They must have a reasonable explanation for this in the parallel universe.

Cats have been choosing hilariously awkward places to sit and nap lately. You’re trying to bake something and your cat thinks it’s fun to sit in the mixing bowl. You open your fridge to get something and find your kitty sitting in there pretending to be a bread loaf. However, they do make an adorable loaf. On a serious note, that’s not a normal place to sit. But cats will be cats. No matter how uncanny they may act, we still love them dearly. We managed to put together 25 photos of cats that chose weirdest spots to sit with no regrets. Aww… the kitty seems scared.

Watching a friends cat, there’s a thunderstorm outside. I’ve been like this for a hour.

Maybe the loop of the belt seems like a box to the cat. Who knows…

Threw my belt on the floor. Trap working as intended.

“Hooman, why didn’t you let me be here before? Food is so close up here.”

There’s a loaf in my fridge! He climbs in every time I start to cook, and I let him hang out there because it’s hot and he’s always wearing that thick furry coat.

“I sit on my chair and judge you.”

Although no corner of the house is cat-free, they roam everywhere around the house. But there are a few spots that they love to sit. It can be a chair, shelf, cupboard, sofa, floor, the dining table or even your bed. It can be anything. Anywhere they find it comfortable to place their butt with glory, it will become their spot. Some people like to designate a special seat to their feline and properly train them to sit there. Other times they do it all by themselves. They would pick a spot, designate it to themselves by not letting anyone else sit there just like Sheldon Cooper and start spending the majority of their time in that spot.

If I fits, I sits in the warm spot. Kieran sitting right above our heating unit blocking the warm air (don’t worry, I made sure it wouldn’t burn his little toe beans!)

“It seems like a box.”

Took my cat to the vet. The place is full of cats exactly like that. It’s a Cats-Only vets office and they have several office cats that reside there. You can find them in so many different spots. It’s adorable.

“How can you leave me, hooman? Don’t go!”

First day back to work in a little over a week of hanging with him every day, he wouldn’t stop meowing until I let him climb up my body to be my scarf. Lil backstory, he’s about 2 years old. His original mother is a friend of a friend. She’s having a really rough time with drugs and stuff and he didn’t have a safe place to stay. My girlfriend and I brought him in until she can get back on her feet. It’s going to be hard to let him go.

“Hmm… I like it up here.”

My cat managed to climb through the skylight and just proceeds to sit there, 20 meters above the ground.

During yoga I look up and see this! My cat watching me…

“I quite like it in here. I suppose it will be mine from now on.”

My cat’s favorite place to sleep is now the shower, right after we use it. But i have to put a towel down first so she doesn’t get her polydactyls wet!

Two furry little brats.

I pulled my stove away from the wall to fix the outlet behind it. I left the room for 2 minutes and came back to find this. I was REALLY afraid that’d be me trying to haul Nik (on the right) out of there. I love him but he’s a brat and hates jumping. Tesla I knew I could get out with the Good Stuff ™, aka catnip flavored treats. I got super lucky and since it was right before dinner time, Nik was also very hungry and jumped his lazy ass right out of there.

“Thanks for making it hooman. We like it. Run along, it’s our possession now.”

My SO laid out her crochet project on the floor to measure it. Not even 30 seconds later…

Neither the cat regrets sitting there nor do we. Such a beauty.

“Hooman, I want to make my modeling debut.”

I was planing on shooting some product…my cat had other ideas. I walked away for 45 seconds and came back to this.

My apologies for leaving you hanging. Here’s a raw image I took while he was still in the box. Once he realized I was trying to snap a few photos of him he became disinterested and sauntered away.

“I’m a good kitty, Pet me hooman!”

My cat sits here everyday waiting to be pet by the people getting the bus. They call him “bus stop cat”

His name is Bear – I adopted him just over a year ago. They think he’s around 7 years old. He’s one of largest cats (not fat) my vets ever seen. We think he has FHS which makes him twitch and VERY CLUMSY. Which I think is even more endearing.

My wife visited a riding stables in Vallentuna Sweden and saw this. She said that all the stable cats were located at some heat sources like radiators, but this cat took it one step further it seems.
