Why do some people relate certain jobs with gender? Like if you are a girl, you would not be good at driving, a man can be a good businessman and not a woman and a man can be a good mechanic and not a woman. Gender has nothing to do with any job. How can you determine how skilled a person is without looking at their work? A lady who used to work at a car dealership has shared her experience with a sexist customer. The customer came in and when OP went out to work on his car, he got shocked. He talked the service advisor and told her that she does not want a girl to work on his car. The service advisor told him that it will take time and the customer was ready to wait. OP kept working on other cars. 2. OP didn’t deal with customers directly and one morning the lot jockey and apprentice were busy washing cars etc.
3. The service advisor left a work order and keys of the car for OP.
4. When the customer saw OP with his keys in her hand, he stood up.

7. OP is dealing with other customers. An hour passes and the customer is still waiting.
8. The customer asked the service advisor to get his car service done by the high school co-op student.
9. The customer was annoyed and asked the service advisor again to get the work done by the high school student and she refused.
10. The advisor handed over another car to OP and customer at this point was fuming and started screaming.

11. The customer told the service advisor he does not care who does his work but it should be a guy.
12. The service advisor listed off the names of all the men working in the dealership and told the customer why can’t they work on his car.
13. The customer now wanted to talk to the service manager. The service manager took the customer to the garage.

15. The manager always takes OP’s side.
