The camping portal camping.info has evaluated the prices for thousands of campsites in Europe. Sunnytrips shows the lists of the cheapest and most expensive camping countries in Europe as well as an overview of the price differences in the German federal states.

Camping is still cheap, especially in the southeast of Europe. On the other hand, campsites in popular European holiday destinations in particular charge more for their pitches. Germany is in the middle, but the differences are large depending on the federal state. An overview.
These are the most expensive and cheapest countries for camping in Europe
The camping portal camping.info compared the prices of around 20,000 campsites in 34 European countries. The comparison was based on prices for two people including a parking space, caravan, electricity and local tax, according to camping.info. On average, a night at a campsite in Europe costs between 14.18 euros and 40.40 euros. The camping experience can be very different - from luxurious glamping to minimalist pitches, everything is available.
In Europe, camping is currently the most expensive with an average price of 40.40 euros in Italy and Croatia. While prices in Italy have risen quite moderately at 2.96 percent, Croatia is already charging 4.2 percent more. However, campers are likely to feel the increase much more clearly in the cheap camping regions: Romania and North Macedonia in particular have increased significantly here with almost 10 and 7 percent. Camping in Europe is cheapest at 14.18 euros per night in Albania.

Camping in Germany is cheap or expensive depending on the federal state
Germany is also a popular camping country and its prices are in the middle of the European comparison. A night at the campsite costs an average of 28.86 euros. Prices rose by around 4.87 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year. However, there are major differences between the federal states. A night at the campsite in Saarland is the cheapest at 23.69 euros. Hamburg tops the list of German federal states for camping with 44.42 euros. This is also where prices rose the most, at around 9 percent.
