- 1 – 1×3 – 43″ long (bottom shelf)
- 1 – 1×4 – 41 ½” long (hanger backing)
- 1 – 1×2 – 43″ long (top edge)

STEP 1:
Build the pegboard frame. Cut the frame pieces to size, according to the plans. For the center divider, measure the distance and cut to size. Drill 3/4″ pocket holes in each end of the top and bottom frame pieces, as well as the center divider. Also drill pocket holes down into the bottom of the frame. Attach the frame together with wood glue and 1 1/4″ pocket screws.

STEP 2:
Secure the bottom shelf of the board with wood glue and attach with 1 1/4″ pocket screws. There should be a 3/4″ overhang on each side.

STEP 3:
Drill 3/4″ pocket holes in a long 1x4 edge for the backing of the coat hook. Glue and clip the 1x4 backing in place so that the ends of the 1x4 are in line with the sides of the board frame. Attach with 1 1/4″ pocket screws.

STEP 4:
Attach the top 1x2 piece to the frame with wood glue and 1 1/4″ nails.

STEP 5:
Paint the two frames with paint. Then brush on a few coats of polyurethane.

STEP 6:
Let the polyurethane dry, work on the board. A 1/2″ border for the frames and then use two coats of chalkboard paint.

STEP 7:
Once the chalkboard paint is dry, center the metal sheet on the smaller side of the frame and glue in place with glue (ProBond – Elmer's). I let it dry overnight.

STEP 8:
You can purchase a 2x2′ square of pegboard, center the pegboard pieces on the back of the frames, and secure with wood glue and 5/8″ nails.

STEP 9:
Evenly space the coat hooks on the 1x4 backing piece and secure with 1/2″ screws.

To hang on the wall use drywall anchors and 1 3/4″ screws. The longer screws will protrude from the wall about 1/2″ and provide the clearance needed to hang hooks and baskets on the board.

You can write important notes on the whiteboard and even attach notes or receipts with magnets. You can hang it in the office, plus the hooks are a great place to hang keys, jackets, etc.
