Qualche giorno fa è stato presentato il Summit, il primo 'smartwatch' di Montblanc basato, come la stragrande maggioranza di questi dispositivi, su Android Wear, la tecnologia di Google. Inoltre, come i suoi concorrenti in questa fascia di prezzo, si colloca nel segmento tra poco meno di 1.000 € e 1.500 €. Il Summit, nello specifico, parte da 895 €. L'innovazione sta nel voler cercare un look classico che imita quello della sua collezione 1858, in contrapposizione alla “modernità” sostenuta dagli smartwatch più diffusi, anche se credo che l'espressione “creare un ponte verso il mondo dell'Alta Orologeria” contenuta nel suo comunicato stampa sia un po' esagerata.

La cassa da 46 mm del Montblanc Summit è disponibile in quattro diversi materiali e stili: in acciaio rivestito in PVD nero, con cassa bicolore in acciaio e lunetta rivestita in PVD nero, con cassa in acciaio satinato e con cassa in titanio grado 5 satinato. Il pulsante che controlla l'intero orologio riprende il design della corona della collezione 1858. I quadranti, che rappresentano la suddetta collezione 1858, presentano complicazioni come Data Automatica, Piccoli Secondi o Cronografo.

I Piccoli Secondi e il Cronografo possono essere combinati con complicazioni digitali che forniscono informazioni utili a chi lo indossa, come l'ora mondiale, un prossimo appuntamento o gli obiettivi di allenamento. Il quadrante urbano aggiuntivo fornisce tutte le informazioni a colpo d'occhio, come notifiche di email o messaggi, riunioni o meteo, per non parlare di una sveglia disegnata da Montblanc e di un cronografo (al centesimo di secondo).

Della collezione 1858 di Montblanc

È disponibile anche un quadrante con design Urban Timewalker e sono previsti ulteriori quadranti che saranno disponibili per i possessori del Montblanc Summit nel Google Store, ma se siete capricciosi e non vi sentite soddisfatti con i quadranti standard, potete sempre contattare il reparto design di Montblanc e per la modica cifra di 15.000 € (quindicimila euro) ne realizzeranno uno esclusivamente per voi.

Sul lato tecnico, monta il processore Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 2100, uno dei più avanzati e potenti attualmente disponibili, anche se sappiamo già che quella parola – “attualmente” – è piuttosto effimera nel mondo degli smartwatch. Android Wear 2.0 è anche compatibile con IOS di Apple. Il display AMOLED ad alto contrasto misura 1,39 pollici (risoluzione 286 ppi), e ciò è reso possibile dalle generose dimensioni dell'orologio stesso: 46 mm di diametro. Proseguendo con il look classico, questo schermo è protetto da un vetro zaffiro leggermente curvo, un'altra novità rispetto alla concorrenza.

Summit e 1858 di Montblanc

L'orologio ha un microfono per i comandi vocali e numerosi sensori: un cardiofrequenzimetro e sensori per misurare passi e attività; un giroscopio e una bussola per misurare l'orientamento dell'orologio; un barometro che può indicare l'altitudine e un sensore di luce ambientale che adatta automaticamente la luminosità dello schermo in base alle condizioni di illuminazione. Può essere caricato tramite micro USB in un connettore magnetico Montblanc e si connette tramite Wi-Fi® e Bluetooth®. Inoltre, dispone di 4 GB di memoria Flash che possono essere utilizzati per sincronizzare e riprodurre musica senza bisogno di uno smartphone.

Oltre a poter essere configurato con le applicazioni più adatte a ciascun utente, il Montblanc Summit viene pre-caricato con Uber, Foursquare City Guide e Runtastic, quest'ultimo con un account Premium gratuito di tre mesi. Può inviare promemoria sugli appuntamenti e visualizzare messaggi in arrivo o chiamate. Può anche scansionare codici a barre sulle carte d'imbarco... sì, la batteria dura ancora meno di 24 ore, un aspetto che deve essere migliorato in tutti gli smartwatch con schermo.
