Simple Steps to Repair Concrete Roof Cracks, this time, I will describe how to seal and repair a crack in our concrete roof.
Materials:
- Electrical extension
- Staircase
- Full body harness
- Eye protection
- Good rope
- Drill
- Round wire brush (for the drill).
- Paint brush
- Polyurethane sealant
- Silicone gun
The waterproof asphalt coating. It kept water away, but it absorbed a lot of heat (really), and that's a problem for living in a tropical climate on the coast.
The temperature difference between the first and second floors was so notable, the thermal shock was felt halfway up the stairs. The main room felt like the inside of an oven; The bed was hot and it was impossible to rest before 10pm, unless there was air conditioning. This, of course, is very expensive.
It was decided to use waterproofing with thermal insulation. It worked well, the heat was reduced a lot, but the roof surprised us.
Step 1: Problem
In heavy rain there was no problem, but in a light drizzle, there was a constant drip. Gray spray paint was used to mark the work site.
Step 2: Preparation
The crack was located in a sloping roof, a complicated position that requires special safety measures.
Step 3: Work alone
Once the crack was found and safety measures taken, we began work.
With a power tool and a pair of round wire brushes many layers of coating were removed. Waterproofing with thermal insulation, asphalt coating. Finally, the raw concrete made the crack visible to the naked eye.
Step 4: Sealing cracks
A polyurethane sealant was used.
It is applied in the crack sequence to ensure that water does not have a chance to seep through. A spatula was also used to flatten the product and make it as uniform as possible.
