Of the two things that I like most about Fine Watchmaking, the first obviously has to do with the mechanics, the other has to do with its stories.
Stories like that of the Bovet brothers, who left their home in the Fleurier Valley behind to embark on a journey that had a very clear objective: to settle in London, the perfect place to establish a watch manufacture with which it would be possible to conquer the Chinese market.
In this way Edouard Bovet embarked on one of the ships of the East India Company, taking with him four pocket watches of exceptional quality, with which he would try to achieve his goal.
Thus, Edouard Bovet achieved his first objective in August 1818, when he reached the coast of Guangzhou, China. Once there, it did not cost him much to sell his watches to a Chinese collector, since timepieces with these characteristics and with that degree of finishing were not very common in that territory. This event caused quite a stir and soon reached the ears of the emperor and his court, who over time became one of the Swiss watchmaker's most loyal clients.
The very foundation of Bovet, therefore, was marked by this trip, and this is the reason why it isswiss watch brandHe wanted to create a piece that commemorated this event. HeEdouard Bovet Tourbillon Triple Time Zone 10 DaysIt is a very important piece for the house as it also represents the meeting point between east and west.
On one of the two spheres a cartographic representation is displayed in which, through two patented hemispheric globes, a three-dimensional reading of two time zones is offered; They accompany finishings such as engravings andguilloche azul.
On each hemisphere there is a window capable of displaying the name of a city, as many as 24 time zones; In this way, each of these 24-hour meridians indicates said time zone.
The sea is represented above these cities with hand-applied blue Superluminova. On the opposite dial of the Edouard Bovet, the local time is indicated through hours, minutes, seconds, together with the power reserve indicator. At the bottom lies another of the protagonists: the double-sided tourbillon.
This architecture houses the patented Amadeo convertible box, which is in itself an analogy, as it represents the emblematic box that once seduced the Chinese emperor and his court. Furthermore, this ingenious system demonstrates its great versatility, as it becomes a practical wristwatch and even a table clock.
As expected, this piece will be available to very few, since theSwiss watch brand Bovetdecided to produce only 60 movements available in red, white and platinum gold.
