Drivers and lovers of classic mechanics set off in the tenth edition of the Monaco Grand Prix aboard exceptional racing cars with the clockChopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Race Edition. On this occasion, as since 2002, Chopard is the official sponsor and timekeeper of the competition. The most prestigious event of theclassic racingof Europe, which meets every two years, took place from May 13 to 15, 2016, and took place along the same route as the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
In a race that attracts more than 30,000 spectators and more than 500 journalists from all over the world, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard stated: "We have a real passion for classic cars and racing and this is probably the largest circuit that can be found in the world. On this occasion, speed tests were held in real conditions, and the drivers fought authentic battles behind the wheel of collectible cars that are distributed in seven categories. Among the participants were renowned drivers and Chopard ambassadors such as Jacky Ickx, Mark Webber, Romain Dumas and Brendon Hartley, who participated with cars such as Bentley, Bugatti and, above all, Porsche, true classic racing cars. The winning pilots of such an exceptional competition received the watchChopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2016 Race Editionfrom the hands of Karl Friedrich Scheufele during the gala dinner.
Since its alliance with the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, the Chopard house has created designs dedicated to the race. This 2016, the models have been made with gentlemen drivers in mind, and have been manufactured in a limited edition of 500 pieces in steel and titanium and another of 100 pieces in 18k rose gold. These COSC-certified chronographs, available on a NATO strap or leather strap, are imbued with the technical spirit of theclassic racingand are intended to support the pilots during this exceptional competition.
