Yesterday, December 1, the annual JORGC 2014 Awards were awarded, with which the College of Jewelers, Goldsmiths, Watchmakers and Gemologists of Catalonia distinguishes its members by sections during the traditional dinner held at the Hotel Casa Fuster in Barcelona. The event, chaired by the mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, was attended by representatives of Catalan institutions and companies in the sector.
Before the start of the dinner, the long-awaited awards ceremony took place for the eighth edition of the sector awards. The JORGC Award, which recognizes the entire professional career, has been awarded to the MAJORAL firm.

The award JORGC TRADE went to Laguarda Joiers, represented by Joaquín and Conchita in the company of their son Joaquín, for their professionalism, formality and craftsmanship, demonstrating every day a great ability to adapt to new technologies.
With more than 105 years of history, jewelry has represented the sector on La Rambla, the most touristic and emblematic street in the city, from where they introduce traditional Catalan jewelry to citizens from all over the world. For all this, the sector wanted to recognize Laguarda Joiers, a 21st century business that does not forget the traditional values of the Catalan retail business.
The prize JORGC WATCH SHOP It was for Alfred Peris for his high level of watchmaking knowledge, his professionalism and having a watchmaking laboratory with the most advanced tools that have allowed him to work with high-end watch brands.
Brands that have also helped him maintain a very high technical level with continuous training. Alfred Peris Durban is the embodiment of the good watchmaker and the “watchmaker's apprentice”. For years he learned the trade in a workshop of proven professionals who knew how to transmit his love for the profession and for a job well done.
