El LANGE 1features a manual winding movement while its counterpart, theLANGE 1 DAYMATICIt's automatic. Both approaches have their supporters, manual winding is conscious while automatic winding is subliminal. On the one hand, theLANGE 1It mainly attracts the most purist fans of manual winding; and on the other, theLANGE 1 DAYMATICIt tends to be the choice of pragmatists who focus on convenience.
There is a difference between the two winding mechanisms. In itLANGE 1, manually wound, the three-day power reserve indicator serves a very useful purpose. Designed as a typical dial of the brand with UP/DOWN, it is located on the far right between the large Lange date display and the subsidiary minute dial. For a self-winding watch, this information is not necessary, so the large date on theLANGE 1 DAYMATICIt was complemented by a subdial with retrograde days of the week.
Thanks to aesthetically pleasing proportions, the harmonious architecture of the off-center dials of both models express balance and grace. The center of the large date display and the hands of the power reserve indicator and the subdial with the days of the week, as well as the hands of the small seconds, are positioned along a vertical line. This is the base of an isosceles triangle whose tip coincides with the center of the main sphere.
